Well i got some of tims top mounts fitted today, first impressions are very good, handling is now as good as its ever been. Steering is not quite as heavy so a lot less effort is needed when out on a blast through twisty roads etc.

Overall a top mod, no more knackered top mounts after 6 months.

        cheers tim

Kinda lot for two aluminium parts with cute colors, there is Finnish project on same subject, I try to get my hands on it, it is lot more cheaper, BUT

There is no mention, that I can see of, what kind of bearings are used? If some Aries or Arias or similiar extremely good bearins are used it explains the price.

hi we use spherical rose joints rated at 26000 lb.we could use cheaper joints but due to the lower rating they wont last ours should last at least 10 yrs.that would be 20 sets of blue mounts......tim

My strut mounts are on the way out too (well, one's completely fudged), was thinking of getting the normal ones in Jan time and doing it at the same time as my planned ARB upgrade. These do seem expensive, or am I being naive?

How long does it take to re-fit strut mounts?

when you say strut mount what part are you talking about? changing top mounts can be done in next to no time with two people, just need a jack, take the wheels off and undo the two bolts on either side drop it down a little and put new ones in.

eer, I don't know, but I get all the described issues of clonking and a wee bit of tramlining (especially on the ruts on the motorways), and the last time I had an inspection service done they said one was knackered. I presume the whole lot? don't know much about suspension components other than the big coily springy things and the squeezy gas-filled things and the wishbone things...

it allows you to have zero pre-load on the antiroll bar. it helps you achieve better sway bar balancing...to get that lotus elise handling that you've always wanted. You will notice the difference in handling within less than 1 second of driving. Also, it makes sway bars much more efficient. Have you ever refitted the sway bar and fit up one side and then had to force-fit the opposite side. When you have to force it, that tension will adversely affect a car's handling. there should be virtually no force to either side to set a sway bar the correct way.
Look it up on the net about setting pre-load on a bar.

@ Tim: do you have any issues with the drop link's jam nuts loosening when you turn lock-to-lock? That is the only issue with the ones I made for my car. It rattles like a ******, but performance is still fine.
                              Cheers!
