S6 - Apikol rear sway bar, anyone got it?

I'm thinking of getting the Apikol rear sway bar kit for my 1995 S6 Avant.

I need to specify if it's got an OEM sway bar already fitted. I can't see one, but I'm not absolutely sure Can anyone post a pic of what I should be looking for? Is it a question of checking the build sticker? I don't think I have the 1BE suspension as an option.

    Cheers,
    Tom

No 1BE = standard 1BA suspension and no rear anti-sway bar.

You probably do have one - I do.
Also, have you looked at 2bennet front top plates - they allow your camber to be brought back to factory spec with lower suspension

Another mod is the V8 torsen diff - the whole lot bolts straight in. Would make your track warrior a lot better!

Or you could use the standard top mounts and modify them with a drill which will also bring the camber back to spec.

Quite fancy one of these beefed up anti roll bars. Checked the standard bar and it looks surprisingly thin.

Any idea what the diameter of the standard bar is?

Just checked the build sticker and I do have 1BE.

Now the question is, is it worth paying $500+ for an uprated version?

Am planning to get new front top mounts as well but not convinced by 2B yet..

I've got a stock rear sway bar on mine and its ok. The apikol one is arouns 6mm thicker iirc. A lot stiffer so a lot less wallowing on cornering.

As for the 2b top mounts I run those too and they give great adjustment. Although my car is sat so low that even they are on their limit.

The only reason I haven't ordered the 2B top mounts is because I'm still considering going to coilovers. I live in Cornwall now so need to be able to adjust between stock and track height to make the car usable for what I want from it.

Wonder if the doubling the up the rear roll bar trick works on a C4? Would be a cheap option.

I think I'm fairly well qualified to answer this question as I am the first person to mount this bar on a urS-car almost 12 years ago or so. The Apikol design is from my HRSB 26mm bar. This is the single most important and significant mod anyone can do to a urS-car for the sake of handling and turn-in. If you already have the factory 17mm bar you're getting about 33lbs of anti-roll with that bar. The HRSB is good for 125, 140 or 155lbs of anti-roll depending on which of the 3 bar settings you use. If you have the factory bar installed the only part that doesn't carry over are the mounting plates which are the trapezoidal plates that have the 2 larger and 2 smaller in the upper right. I think they have a price differential for factory users.

These have been mounted on factory avants and 92 saloons with equal success. The difference is nothing short of astounding. I run full coil-overs and the 28mm front bar with slot car like cornering. If you do this mod you will not regret it.

Brilliant - thanks for that.. I'm getting one!

Which coilovers are you using? Are they adjustable?

                      Car looks great underneath btw

Thanks Tom. I sent you a PM but for everyone else that coil-over system is NLA due to the untimely death of Dave Stone. There were only a handful made but IMHO it was the best ever available for our cars.

I think I remember reading that the Apikol bar can be fitted to a 200 with a little modification...

can anyone confirm or deny that?

The coilover kit sound interesting. Any more info on those? Spring ratings and lengths, details on dampers, where they off the shelf, custom valved etc.
