Andy, chopping all the aligning bits off wont affect it.
although i would be inclined to take them back off, get rid of the loctite and lather the internals with coppa slip, when you do the locknuts up it aint gonna move!

In my experience on Type 44 and C4s, the aftermarket ones from Meyle and OCAP tend to get surface rust quickly and more annoyingly, squeak.
Hence I only use Lemfoerder now.

I just replaced mine 3months ago.they're Febi(Bilstein).so far so good.Lemforder is the OEM for C4 chassis.
if you could find one for cheap but AFAIK Lemforder is price 2-3x than Febi's.When i received the Febi's control arms,
they were looking neat on the quality though.
Have you fitted yours yet Phil? Because mine didn't fit without modifcation
They have tabs machined on the end of the threaded bar to lock the two ends together
As you can see the tabs are machined in the wrong orientation. This is the std one on the left and the Ebay one on the right
I ended up cutting the tabs off so I could align them, then put some Loctite on the nuts to lock them in place.
Just to say i have fitted my adjuster and as has been discussed they are handed, that is why you had to cut the lugs off. you fitted the incorrect side one
