I thought I'd post my experiences with the short shift mod...

I ordered it through the group buy, purchased using PayPal, and the kit was delivered within 6 days, not bad considering it was from the States over Christmas...

Got round to fitting it, and fitting was a breeze. Instructions were clear, and the parts fitted well. The spares supplied were useful too. Took me about 1hr 20mins start to finish, not bad for a novice spanner man like me.

Verdict? A definite reduction in shift throw length, and a nice sharp gear shift. It's a little notchy now, but I prefer that to vague and sloppy! The gearshift is much more enjoyable.

All in all, a brilliant mod - instant improvement, easy to install, well built, and basically not expensive.

Highly recommended.

Received my short shifter a few days ago.Thanks Richard! Installed it in my ABY this morning complete with reverse lockout mod.Nice solid feeling short shift now,if still a little notchy.I have only driven the car around the block to check it selects all gears,no problem.Reverse lockout mod didnt need any alignment,I just drilled the extra hole,bolted the lockout on to the shifter and installed it.There doesnt seem to be much room for alignment anyway!

Is there anything like this available for the Ur quattro 20v?

The guy selling these (Richard Hoffman) did say he would do them cheaper for a 'quantity', also the shipping works out a lot cheaper if you buy a 'qty' from him in one go.

Does anybody knows if is still possible to get this one ?

And maybe somebody has photos of this short shifter ?

Richard Hoffmann sold his design and manufacturing rights to 034 Motorsports many years ago and 034 still lists the short shifter:

hmmmmmm..... now I'm a bit confused... Why 034motorsport doesn't say that this kit will fit B4 or at least 01E on S2/RS2
I do have this short shifter installed on my typ44 which is converted to 6-speed 01E from C4 S4, but I never looked how shifter is done on RS2 .....

This one is not good ....., because:

It doesn't have a provision for the push down reverse that an 01E needs.

and

Some fabrication is required to get it to work with a reverse lock out on the 6 speed. 034 aren't very helpful with this as per usual.

All I (think I) know is 034 bought the design from Richard Hoffmann and the advertise it as "012/016/01E Short Shift Kit, Audi 4000/5000/200 Quattro, UrQuattro, C4 Audi UrS4/UrS6"

Yes, I know this option, but pity it won't fit under original knob/shift boot .......
