Billcatz Short shifter modified :-)

I fitted the Billcatz short shifter a few weeks ago which is a real nice short throw, but the short shifter does NOT have reverse gear lockout on it! :eek2: it was WAY too easy to hit reverse from 2nd gear or neutral and 2nd was a pain to get sometimes.

A solution HAD to be found.

A solution has been found I now have a sweet short shifting gearbox WITH reverse gear lockout back in place!!

Now I have reverse gear protection back, I can NOW 100% recommend this short shifter providing you do this mod....Click here

The list never gets shorter does it? Think I paid about £80 all-in for the shifter from the guy in the US. It's worth doing.

The guy selling these (Richard Hoffman) did say he would do them cheaper for a 'quantity', also the shipping works out a lot cheaper if you buy a 'qty' from him in one go.

whats the advantage to the short shift? Does it make 2nd gear selection better or worse? Cos its not the best gear to get really is it?

I got it because I really like a very small amount of movement when changing gear. The S2 has a slow gear change, so this part reduces the distance between the gears and makes it a 'quicker shifter'

I had a Passat GLS 100hp back in the early 80's whose gear shift is still the best I've ever had! The movement from gear to gear was about a 2 inch move! a real nice 'snick' gear change!

You'll never get that with the S2's lazy gear change, but this kit means you have less distance between the gears, therefore a faster change. 2nd gear is simple to get, but maybe my box is ok on 2nd...
