to be fair they're not really designed for launches
Great for putting down moderate power though

yes well worth having, exellent mod if you can find one and easy to fit. loads of fun. no launches over 3000rpm though. ive done 1 launch on each dif and both times it smashed diff and case to bits. so im being good now this is my last 1, after this its a gripper at the cost of ÂŁ1150 +vat so no no

What kind op power are you running? And tyres?

I am really liking v8 diff, however I do not launch my car.

its around 500hp and over 750nm, tyres are R888s. i personally love the V8 diff i just wish it was stronger to launch. gripper diff (LSD) and quaiffe do a torson (dont no how strong though) are both over ÂŁ1100, well out of my buget. ive run the S2 diff with same set up for years now with diff locked an lots of 4-5k launches an never had a problem, they are no were near as good to throw car around though as you prob know. i can get mine sideways for over 50m out of a 2nd gear corner thats why i favour the V8 diff on private road of course

I think Quaife offer a lift time warranty on their diffs, although not sure what their conditions are on that...
I'm in the process of putting together a diff oil cooler setup for my rear TORsen as they do get very hot on track.. but i think as long as you look after them they can be reliable for moderate power

So..... if I fit the torsen sitting in my garage to my homefried but otherwise stock ABY coupe .. I guess I would be probably asking for trouble if I then get my ECU Launch Control'd?

If I just blew up the torsen internals I could always just put the S2 internals back in but if the casing went too I dont think I'd find another one in Oz.

Did you have the backlash and bearing pre-load set up when fitting these?

I guess it wouldn't make too much difference to their longevity at your power/torque levels with your sticky tyres but just wondering how involved it will be to install.

no they dont seem to have any preload on bearings as i took out the lot out and found no shims at all in all the spare diffs i had?? (anyone know) the pinion maybe adjustable for lash but i left that alone as there were no big lash comparisons. keep crown wheel an pinion together and the case cover that came with the diff if you can. when fitted they were quiet too, i also used EP85/140 for the heat. both had been on for couple of years. there is a fitting thread on here if you look. if i had one i would defo fit it, but not if you intend to launch agressive. driving fun out weighs launch for me. yes both diff cases were scrap when they failed.
