Tom's dizzy drive gear broke off the end of the inlet cam. This isn't the first 7A cam that's had this problem. No damage other than a wasted track session and replacement of the cam.
Any one else broke down on the way home form CC?

My brakes were squeeling all the way home..............
Really loud and annoying.
Going to have a look tomorrow, clean them up and fit new pads.
Also, my car was pulling slightly to the left. I didn't hit anything to put the tracking out, so the only thing I can think of is the tyres - well worn on the nearside

Thats not too bad then, i was looking to get my 7A cam re-profiled but might just stick with the stock one now.Originally posted by SteveHTom's dizzy drive gear broke off the end of the inlet cam. Hmm, good to hear it wasn't Tom's crank. That would have been a bit of a nightmare...
Glad to hear you got back OK Bo; seems like it was a bit of a high-attrition trackday this year! My NSF tyre is a bit worn on the outside and she's pulling a little, the brakes are OK it seems but light braking in 50-70 range results in some vibration, and the exhaust is blowing a little from the DP-mid section join. I have a bit of work to do this week, ready for the rolling road... :mischeif:
I know the other Ross had a head gasket go on track and had to get towed home too.
@Chris - did you get back OK? Heard there was possibly an issue with your wheels...AUDI - saving Dad's from minivans since 1994

Ahh, that explains it Matt, your mysterious boost problem was obviously sticking brakesOriginally posted by MattS2My brakes were squeeling all the way home..............

Matt.
Bin them and stick your mono's on matey
As for me, no dramas on the was home other than running the fuel gauge sooo far below the red that the computer gave up screaming 'E' at me and after 40 miles simply said 'long walk'
After having passed 2 Texaco stations but refusing to put more 95Ron in after haing to run the track sessions on Texaco **** water from the garage local to the track, I finally stopped at the next station...another b10ddy Texaco only to discover it had 97Ron unleaded as well. So why does the local CC Texaco not sell it
@ 'other Ross' I hope you got home OK matey. Let us know what the diagnosis is and hope you get it back and running soon

I must say I'm amused - I've found myself getting more and more cross as I pass Texaco's, eventually crawling into some town with the 'E' showing with my fingers crossed there's a shell round the corner!!
But, to see that you'd rather run her dry and walk than feed her **** - now that's hardcore... last time I put Texaco fuel in the S2 it ran like a pig.AUDI - saving Dad's from minivans since 1994

As for the walk...I figured it would only ever be a few miles to a shell and I was so tired, the walk migh wake me up

Hey, I promise you, if I could get the damn car chipped I would, but MRC ignored all my attemptsOriginally posted by MattS2Are you sure you're not hiding a little secret in your ECU?
Matt.
Honestly, my engine is stock except for the RS2 airbox and S3 DV and at GTi this year I was posting 14.1s for the 1/4 mile whereas people with homefries were doing 13.5s.
I suspect the difference is that 'I drove it like I stole it' and you were considering how you might get home

@ S2Bo, did the "Colgate Mod" make any difference? I just had a good look at my PCV plumbing and it looks like it actually wouldn't as the one way valve is on the other side of the Tee where it connects to the pipe to the crankcase.. One thing though is, the way the canister valve works on my car, if i remove that hose from the carbon can it will build enough vacuum to hold my finger on the end of the hose, yours was not doing that.
This breather plumbing always does my head in
