  • Audi b4 80 2.3e FWD swap transmission

    Hello,
The automatic transmission in my 1993 Audi b4 80 2.3e FWD went bad; So decided to replace with a manual transmission. I am taking out my 3 speed and replacing it with a 5spd fwd tranny. I was just wondering if the following part is what I need:
    1.drive axles
    2.gearbox w/mounts
    3.flywheel
    4.clutch pressureplate
    5.disk
    6.master and slave cylinder
    7.entire pedal assembly.

Could somebody please let me know if I am missing any parts. Any thoughts or suggestions that you might have for me will be appreciated.

    Thanks for your support!

I found an Audi 100 with the same engine and manual transmission. Will this transmission fit in my car?

Yes. Gearbox will fit. You will have to remove the bushing from cracnkshaft to install flywheel.

I threaded the bushing and screw in a bolt, and it popped right off.

Maybe the 80 2.3 don't have the busing ang has a bearing instead.

Catalogue doesn't show any bearing or bushing for 93 80 2.3 automatic crankshaft, but can't be sure before you remove your old gearbox

2.3 manual gearbox code should be AXG

I will remove my old gearbox next week. Do you know if the Audi 100 2.3e drive axles or the drive axles from the Audi 80 2.0 will work in car?

Does anyone know which is the correct drive axle for my new transmission (code AXG). I am looking for the part number. Thanks!

New drive shafts can be pretty expensive and hard to find, buy used ones and replace CV joints.

The 1.8T AEB automatic and the 2.8 AFC Automatic both had the bushing, even though the catalogue doesn't show it there's a good chance that your engine will.

The new drive axles and the ECU are headed its way. The ECU came from Audi 80 2.3 with manual transmission. If somebody thinks I'm missing a part, please let me know. Thanks for your support!

I dont think you need a new ecu on car that is so old.
                          Left gearbox mount?
Does the manual gearbox clear the mount on the body for automatic gearbox?

That is quattro subframe right there. B4 manual tranny usually needs just one gearbox mount on the subframe!

He can't use fwd subframe, because his car don't have the correct mount on the body. See pic and part nr. 3
He must use qauttro subframe and left quattro gearbox mount.

Auto box is secured from rear and mount is located in the cardan tunnel.
