OK. I will have a V-8 rear diff & a spare coupe diff on the work bench next week. I want to know about using the larger 108 mm flanges on the input & both output flaanges. I have a 7A coupe, USA version. I want to use the larger CV joints from the V-8 differental on both the input to the diff & the output flanges. My questions are ...
1)Will I have any difficulty adapting the CV joints to my axles? I think that the S2 inner CV joints are the larger 108mm, is this correct? Will I need shorter axles? Will the splines be the same? 2) The same questions about the rear CV joint on the driveshaft.
I figure that I can pull all the parts I need at the local "breaker" (I love that word!) at one time so I want to get all the pieces all at once. It would be nice to upgrade the performance abilities of the driveline at the same time as I install the torsen in the rear diff. All of your input is appreciated. I will post pictures as the work progresses.
Thanks, Chris
I replaced my rear diff for a 7a one last weekend. All i had to do was fit the flanges from my old diff (108mm) very simple to do.
Dunno if this is any help

Thanks that does help some. Are the axles the same then from 7A to S2? Will there be any problem with axle "plunge" that is, will the 7A axle be any different lengnthwise?
Also, are the outer CV joints any larger than on US spec vehicles?
Thanks, Chris
I presume the 7a drive shafts will be the same length, just the cv joints are a bit smaller. I dont have any 7a driveshafts to compare.
Wabtheking might be able to help, think he has lots of 7a parts.
I would say you need S2 flanges and S2 drivesafts to do everything.
@Paul: Tomorrow I will get the V8 complete rear diff. There is also a S2 coupe in another breaker with the rear diff still available. I think I can take that to make the swap, that way I won't destroy mine in case I realle mess everything.
I have the Torsen diff in my possesion. Still in housing but looks very good.
I don't want to destroy my current diff just in case so I am going to a breaker that has an S2.
He will not sell me the diff alone but the whole rear of the car brake disk to brake disk
So if anybody is interested in drivesafts or rear hubs PM me. Shipping to US for this should be around 50 Euro
I will have time to take it appart on do everything the week after easter, so in 20 days. Will take pictures and try to make a guide.
Maybe Albert is quicker than me on this. Who is it going Albert?

A ordinary Coupe Q diff is the same as S2 except the flanges(can be moved over) and may be easier to come by then S2 diff. Maybe you don't have to buy complete rear if it's "just" a CQ

Yes the S2 has 108mm drive shaft CV joints.
The splines are probably not the same on 100 and 180mm versions. At front they're not.
BUT the propshaft is the same as you have! They're all 100mm and have special CV joints. They're as heavy duty as the 108mm are but allow smaller movement.
Btw some V8 owners report their rear diffs can't take much abuse. I'd think twice before adapting one to a modded turbo car that has even more torque than the v8!
Thanks for all the info! I only have a 7a in the car for now. Whenever I can find a wrecked s4 or s6 to graft parts from then I will have more questions.
First, replace/rebuild worn out parts. Then rear torsen. Then coilover conversion.....mo money, mo money

Can you give me more info on this.
Why would a torsen hold 100% of Torque at the middle with a monster setup with no problems and will fail when giving 50-70% of the Torque (the part that goes to the rear wheels) at the back?
Still that one of the reason I am keeping my original diff as it is, just in case something brakes
