You have PM. Bronze and needle bearings are bad

Unfortuantly the picture didn't work anymore.Linked timing chart worked for me. If timing is wrong torsen did not turn.
Washers I used were AS3552 (Old torsen). just relpaced the bronze and needle bearings at the ends. two piece and new B5 E and F torsens use AS3047.

I have this type of diff (attached picture) and as far as I understood I have to replace one needle bearing and the bronze washer with this AS3552 correct?
Can somebody confirm me this? Thanks in advance!

Just a quick question, which mod would affect the understeer the most :
- Torsen at the back (from V8)
- 4.1 Center
- Both combined ?
(I also plan on putting a 4k quattro sway bar (stabilizer) at the back)
I don't plan on doing launches nor drag strips, maybe a lttle bit of track once my 3B Coupe is sorted

Thanks for the link a bit of work went on there. Good lad. I rebuilt another o1e today so I have a few spares now. I like the clunky 01e change. Maybe I'm odd. LolLeave a comment:

Yes. 0A3 is all alloy so won't be as strong as the 01E, but seems to hold up OK to 600+hp supercharged RS4s with full bore launches:
Syncros are far, far smoother than the 01E but they are more delicate. It's a much nicer gearbox to drive, feels modern and shifting is a pleasure not a chose. Ratios are short but you have the option of a JMG, GVB or HVE box from a TDi with longer 4th, 5th & 6th. I'm not 100% sure which of these has the T3 centre diff but I believe all quattros after 2007 had the T3.
There is all the info in this thread about what I had to do to fit the 0A3:

I'm picking up another 2004 ish v6 tdi quattro 01e gearbox today simular to the one I have just rebuilt. It has the later t1 torsen that can be modified as described.Leave a comment:

I´m happy to buy newer torsen if available in good price. They are rarely sold separately. You should buy whole gearbox to get one.Leave a comment:

Have you done this? Link? What's that gearbox like at holding torque? A v8 rs4 is kinda low in that department is it not?Leave a comment:

Just fit an RS4 0A3 box. 4:1 TBR and 40/60 static bias. Much better

Yep it is good to know that there are bigger washers in older torsen. I believe 90quattro might have two piece construction like mr.crossfire. not sure why old t1 torsen found at least from coupe quattro s2 can be modded only partly. It will not be 4:1 but something between 2:1-4:1. Maybe gearing or if gears have some sort of threatment.Last edited by hiloran; 15 May 2015, 19:34.Leave a comment:
, but is more neutral/oversteer under power on corner exit.
