Yup - that is the problem with the machining. We're going to try and make some special "disposable" tool to hold the washer as it is milled at high speed with plenty fluid
I'll report back how we get on - hopefully I'll get time in the next couple of weeks

Yes, getting the shims is not a problem here either, but the machining is. I know a guy who has access to a grinding machine, with a magnetic table. He says that it can be done, but will be Very slow because the shims are hardened, and should be grinded very carefully to not heat them up destroying the heat treatment.

well i just spoke to my GF's bro about it - he recon's we can do it on his milling machine so I will try and remember to buy some washers in the next couple of weeks and we'll see what we can do - not easy to machine as its holding the things down that is the problem

I've not done anything with it at the moment, had too much other stuff to do - but I now have an 01A and an 01E box to look at the centre diffs and use to work on.... getting the washers is no problem, but i ned to find a local machine shop to try out as I have moved house away from the place i was going to use...... I can sort out a GB on the washers no problem, then people have to shim their own diff and get the washers machined themselves

    Maybe Billman has some progress?

Great stuff Billman - I have been quietly watching this one - if its a success then it would be a mighty way to fundamentally change the bias of an S2/RS2... PLEASE keep us updated - whether its good or bad - people like you trying stuff out get answers for for everyone else...
