    Clutch Master Cylinder

Well done Audi, congratulations on designing the most useless linkage known to man - some crap rubber and a pressed metal cup - that'll never break. After 25k my clutch M/C linkage is on its way out again - the lovely smooth action replaced by a graunchy mess

Watch this space for a solution to this common issue.

I know the feeling a few months back I had just fitted a new slave from audi and it lasted 2 hours and they refuse to give me a replacement as I fitted it myself and want the whole car in for a diagnostic at 60 quid an hour for some muppet that knows f-all about my car as he was still wearing nappies when it was built to tell me the seal is burst in the slave. Car now running great with a cheap 30 quid alternative part from some dodgy parts shop.

Can the CQ20 / 3B item be used instead?

There never seems to be any problems with them, mines done 172k+ miles

They're a different part number, 6 speed uses a different one to 5 speed, not sure what the differences are though. Thanks to Colsey it shouldn't be too long before I see the two items side by side though. Hoping to design a retrofit product that repairs or prevents damage in the first place and doesn't require removal or rework of the M/C

sounds like probably Audi changed the part to a cheaper on to cut costs on the ABY

Aye, could be a number of things...

I'll have a good look at the mechanism, aiming to get something sorted for the £25-30 region that will solve the problem. Got a few ideas, it's just making something neat and tidy

              Hey there Rusty
Will your solution work for the RS2? mine broke yesterday.
For what it's worth, the part number is 8A0 721 401

I had a friend make a new one for me when mine snapped last year. Made of a great big bolt instead of plastic. Tbh I never saw what he did but he told me it will never break again
