Thing is that both these will be the plastic ones. A plastic never held on my car for more than 3000Kms

I just bought a sachs clutch for my ABY avant and i need to replace the release bearing. Has anyone used a Luk released bearing with the sachs performance clutch?

I take it that the metal ones should last longer?

Mine lasted about 5 minutes, so it seems like pot luck TBH.
Uprated pressure plates like the SRE do give them a hard time.

personally I think we get hung up on materials for these. plastics can be better, or worse.

I have a metal INA bearing and a Sachs plastic faced item. If you pull the plastic off the face of the Sachs item it's metal faced behind. If the plastic wears through, you still have the steel backing.

the reason Sachs has the plastic on the pressing surface is probably for anti-rattle?

Anybody tried using a new VAG release bearing with the sachs performance clutch. Are they still available ?

I have two metal faced bearings. One from LUK (500 0410 10) which have INA bearing and one from SKF (VKC 2601). The LUK one seems that is used on FORDs: Transits, Escort Cosworth, Scorpio, Sierra etc. This one has a bigger contact surface. I have the SKF one in my AEL and i am planning to use the LUK on my coupe when my triple disc clutch arrives. I will see if it holds or not.
On the AEL i don't have any problems yet.
