Yep I have to agree after year of running directionals, assymetrics do seem much better across all conditions. For a good compromise tyre for decent money, I have to say I was seriously impressed with the FK453 assyms. Unless you really are driving at 10/10ths then they were great and took me round the ring without issue too for 3 barrier to barrier runs. Wear was very good.

Part of me wants to buy Contact5 just to try them, and part of me wants to go for Goodyears just to be safe. Looked at reviews and some places say GD are better, some say Contact5's are better. Contis are more than a kg lighter and wear rate seems to be similar too.

I recently ran for 3 years Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my 18" Eta Beta Turbo split rims. Have just gone back to my 17" RS2 cups with Goodyear Assym 2s and they are absolutely fantastic. I feel they hold the road better, that may be due to lower tyre size (225/45/17). I cannot fault them at all and come renewal I know they will be my go to tyre

if i was after premium tyres they would be my choice.

proxi i found not great but bout 1/2 the cost.

What about Uniroyal rain sports 3. I like them and they are cheap.

Didn't think about them, but they're surprisingly light...lighter than a Goodyear

At £280 a set I am very inclined to try them out. A lot of people swear by them, and nothing beats them in wet weather and in the UK that's all we seem to get.

I haven't bought anything yet Mark. Goodyear is good, but it comes at the cost of bad wear. Been reading and 7-10k from front tyres is pretty poor, like is said before I can't afford £400 a year on tyres.

I'm confused.....that was your comment about the Dunlops earlier in this thread. In my first post here i said I've done at least 11k miles on mine and there is loads of tread left. Just been out and measured them, 6mm on the back and 5.5mm on the front. Wearing out ..........i don't think so!
