  • Central locking stopped working so petrol flap won’t open

Today the central locking has failed. Is there a quick way to open the petrol flap?

Normally all cars have a manual release from inside the trunk,
    situated behind the trunk liner.

I cannot remember there being one on my coupe, however you should be able to open the access flap and get your hand in there and pull on the actuator. If not then you will need to remove the side trim to get at the actuator.

Pull the boot liner away and you'll see two bolt head that hold the actuator in place, take out the two bolts (I think m6 so 10mm socket) the actuator can then be pulled towards the back of the car which will release the flap.
Alternatively fiddle a bit of vac tube onto the spare port of the actuator and suck

Johns pretty much answered this, but it happened on my Coupe a couple of times so I've dealt with the issue myself... As he say's pull the drivers side boot carpet back, you can then access the actuator and operate it manually with a pick or screw driver.

I'm sure I was able to manually pull the actuator by hand without pulling away the boot trim. If you open the little carpeted flap for the screen wash and move the filler neck out of the way for access.

Disclaimer: You might not be able to do this if you have hands the size of shovels.

You're right Nuvo, this is possible, that's how I initially assessed the problem by have a peak though there with a torch, however I've got builders hands so I pulled the carpet to one side to actuate the mech manually though I think I could have done it through that flap at a push.

Yes I do have quite large hands

I think I'm going to slip a short bit of vac tube on the empty port which points towards the flap, then I can always open it with a Mightyvac

Mine decided it wasn't going to open when was I parked on a garage forecourt with 0 miles range displayed, so I didn't worry about using too much finesse I just wanted to put petrol in my car.

In my case the actuator itself had stuck but it really wasn't hard to active manually once I could see it.
