well I hadn't arranged insurance on it myself, I couldn't get temp cover on it because of my age and the cars rating. I only insured the car by swapping my policy after the money was handed over. I did ask on the phone if he had traders insurance which would cover me to drive the car and he said yes, but when I asked to have a go he just said he would drive it. Didn't really think much of it at the time. If I'd had the chance to take the car on a proper test drive I may have been able to pic up on a couple of things but generally all the faults developed over the following weeks
Does anyone know about these chaps?? AlltypeCars

I just feel genuinly gutted because that car was every penny I'd saved, I only managed to spend a further £2500 on repairs thanks to savings. My budget was only to run and service the car, I was only ever going to get the body work and interior repaired over time. I'm now driving another ***** peice car while the S2 is sat on the driveway waiting to be broken into bits. It has put me off them but I know this is not the story most people tell after having bought one. I might consider getting another one when I've made some money back, not sure at the moment.Comment

Shame this bad experience sounds like it may put you off owning such a wicked motor, Try put it behind you and move on. As for the seller, sounds like your stereotypical used car salesman. Shame he deals in slightly exclusive motors, maybe because it gives him the power over the buyer that he needs
Buyer beware and all that

There are other S2's out there that are not sold by Alltype, you just have to patient and then get in quick before him!

And try and get a forum car that will have some history with it.... Forum members will not normaly sell you a dud...
But it has to be said that these cars do need money and time thrown at them to keep them running...Comment

Problem is most people normally don't know about the forum till after they have the car.
I was lucky and had jas11n point me in this direction when I was on audifans and asked about a s2 on pistonheads. He knew the car and its history

what do you get out of advertising/displaying some ones house & who said that is the address that gets put on invoices like i said that is only the billing address for the adverts at that time i placed an add on that site & dest if your that much interested in who lives at that address why dont you pop round there & knock on the door or do an electroll reg checkYou wont mind me posting it up then if its not a real one?
I wonder who actually does live at 76 The Crescent, Slough then?
Home sweet home? But for who?!

Do you inform buyers that the address on the invoice isnt where you live or trade from?Comment

quattro turbo, you are not doing yourself credit here.
I think you can understand the members here and on other forums wanting to check companies out.
Most would expect to see maybe an industrial unit as the registered office with the available stock to view. If the above address shown on search engines, is the trading address of a company which suggests they have a large stock of high value motor cars, I think you would also start digging around.
I am sure the readers/members would welcome a VAT number, company registration number, to prove the critics wrong?sigpicComment

I walked away from my last visit 2 weeks ago at AllType. Inspected 2 White UrQs (1984 and 1986) that needed a lot of work on body (1986 model), interiour and engine (1984 model) to get them in solid condition (not even mint), and both needing a serious repaint too.
For me the initial asked prices were too high once I saw what was really needed to get them in good shape. I do have to say Ash is a nice chap to talk to, but it put's me off how the cars are threated by just having them rust away in that barn. He is a real trader in that respect.
His motto of 'You pay what you get' is true, and I have seen it with my own eyes now. I was somewhat mislead by the good looking pictures he made of the cars on PHs. What I learned from this UK visit is that good solid 10v UrQs start at 7-8k GBP. Period.
In case you have a small project budget like me your better off looking at a true Audi enthousiast that sells his beloved UrQ. Or build something else your self

no they dont. the amount of heat you need to do that severe damage to the car is huge, and you must be mad to drive the car like that. If you have no fluids in the car and temps are skyrocketing and you still keep on going, well then yes perhaps. But in this case Paul didnt do anything like that. He is not an old lady who has a 30 year old car driving around...Comment
