Anyone know of such a maker? Only found 1 place in the UK thus far and their prices were high. Looking to get some rear options sorted out that are bolt-on and are an upgrade over the Whiteline bar
Finding someone to make the shape isn't the issue, it's sorting out any post manufacture heat treatment that's the issue IMO.

Hey Rusty Im in the middle of adding a rear sway to my coupe quattro. Couldnt find any aftermarket beefy options at a reasonable price(2 bennett's 19mm at $300??) But I did find a cool write up in vw wortew that im considering doing. It basically takes the front 26mm sway bar from the 4000Q and uses front links from a 90. The write up is old and all the pictures are dead but all the important info is still there. Heres the link check it out......http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...000-Ur-quattro
check out the sticky thread in the suspension section, we've done every permutation available between us. I'm running a 25mm B4 FARB on the back of mine, works well but can do better. $300 isn't so bad TBH and 19mm would do well. Got a 26mm item to use on mine next.

ha okay I see this conversation has been going on for some time now...lots of good info for a newbie in those threads...ill post up some pics of my project sometime soon......On a totally unrelated question Did you used to sell grey US spec gauges on ebay? I may or maynot have bought some from you a while back
Or would be possible to make them either entirely or partly yourself?
However if the front arb's arent NLA at audi and theres plenty on scrap cars anyway, would not be a better option to just make appropriate drops to make that work out as a bolt on.
Tried various spring manufacturers. The front bar is a bit narrow really, needs to be a bit wider to give more clearance, it also needs the struts swapping to relocate teh ARB drop links so it's not bolt on at all. Shortening the arms on a front bar is an option.

Ah yes, showing my lack knowledge of S2 here too use my 90 ty89
How about a straight piece of bar, clamp on arms or possibly blades, its how done on race cars, simple and cheap with lots of adjustably. Would maybe be most cost effective way for small numbers like this and yield must valuable product. Dont know S2 needs the offset on the rear arb in the middle, I know I'v fitted a ty85/1 4cyl arb to back my 90 and its straight with no bother, but I think the front does need the offset to clear the sump.

I was thinking of doing this on the golf, any idea what grade of steel to use for the bar?.
Also what grade would i use if i were to machine a blade?
The arms can be made of a number of suitable materials as they are in bending rather than torsion and their deflection will be minimal if designed correctly. Blade style needs a bit of calculation to ensure that it's suitable.
The problem is getting a material that has a suitably high torsional yield stress for the application, this is ensured on springs through the materal and heat traetment. All can be applied to ARBs but it's finding spomeone to do it. From my searching, EN19T seems to be mentioned.
I had been looking at a modular RARB that could be adjusted for coarse and fine balance but that was left on the shelf for now.
Perhaps a hollow bar is the best option, I'll have a look Luckily RARB is quite simple so can be made of 3 parts.
Already been in contact with Turnton, might give them another try with the RARBs but prices last time put a finished product in the £200-250 region.
