lol prj, the site you have recommended sells the 409.1 cable cheapest $8.25 so if you wanted a bullsh!t lead your right you would save yourself around £4.00 rrp ebay prices. all the other vag leads are hundreds of dollars, and obviously the wait for the ship time etc, im not too sure it is a rip off, nor are the some 60 odd customers who have bought the lead same as me!
rusty, it could well be the same problem in that case i had with the vag106 lead? just up to you how far you want to go with it, resistor costs £1.50 and depends how handy you are with a soldering machine i guess
A VAG Lite key is £65 but my lead isn't the most reliable, so it seems a bit pointless to pay money to use something that crashes when you view live data for more than a minute or so.

Must admit I went through many cheep leads and plumped for the full registered Hex-Can USB lead in the end. Ross -Tech support is great and the lead has more than paid for itself in beer money helping people out...
I've been looking at this, had an intermittent engine light on the RS6 and also want VDCS for taking codes on the RS2 as well. I'd go for a cheapo cable and 'lite' but I'm tempted to stump up for the Ross-Tech and consider it an investment. Just seems a bit steep at £265, considering I just want to check codes most of the time. Are there many features on the full version that justify paying the extra price?
For the 3B I bought an ebay ODB lead and a 2+2 adapter, total about 15 quid IIRC plus 311-2 version of Vagcom which I can email to whoever wants it. The lead was from a seller called Alphabid. This has been faultless for a few years now. For logging the RS4 I use my mate's Rosstec lead and VCDS my ebay lead doesn't fit the socket in the car.
