Importing SPM Rods from Sweden?

Hi guys,

sorry I don't have any breaking news; got called into work last-minute but finally tomorrow I get a day off

As per payment / order date; we have no deadlines so it's what is best for the "team" here; I am under the impression that most, like me, aren't in a hurry - but if anyone has a deadline to get these by, please let me know.

I am going to call SPM regarding the payment options; Sten has provided me with an IBAN and his bank details but did not mention credit card payments. He can as mentioned, accept a VAT number and then you're responsible for your own tax, but if the same VAT number is used for more than one order he must send them to the same address (and then, that person would be responsible for distribution and HMCE chasing for taxes etc...).

If you have any questions, you can cetainly contact Sten and mention it's in relation to the Audi S2 group buy. I'm also happy to ask him on behalf.

I'm hoping to finalise the plans next week; if anyone wants to put some money down I'll be at the garage meet, and I have a 'spare' bank account that gets used exclusively for this kinda activity :mischeif: But I'd only really feel comfortable taking anyone's money once the order and prices were finalised; I'm not in this to make a penny just offer a service to my fellow S2'ers and get a damn good deal at the same time And hopefully I'll have answers for all who'd rather pay SPM directly.

I can wait on putting the order down, and as mentioned we have the price as long as the order is >40 rods; if it's better for some to wait until March rolls round then I'm fine with that, as long as it doesn't cause anyone problems with upcoming project timescales etc. I'm hoping that if we put up an 'initial' order of 40 rods, that Sten with honour the group-buy price for those that need to wait till march-april to pay up. And then everyone will be happy.

Please post up as to when you all could have the money, or send me a PM, and I'll figure a date that is going to be suit us all as a 'deadline'. I always have a 'worst case scenario' plan - and that is, if it comes to it, to put down the order at month-end (ie after payday) for the whole bunch, and then ship to individuals as I get payment. Even then, in the worst case, it'd be about £375 a set, tax+ shipping to your door inclusive.

Naturally I'll keep everyone informed and this post updated.

OK, after a bit of thought (and the fact that half of last month's paycheque won't be arriving until the 25th) I am thinking that we should aim to have this order ready to go at the beginning of march - that way it allows 2 weeks to organise payment, etc.

Do the Swedes have credit cards?! Sten hasn't mentioned anything in his replies to me, but re-iterated his IBAN etc. I have checking into it, I can make free IBAN transfers and I guess most high-st banks can.

So, at the moment, payment methods are:

1. Pay directly to SPM the amount for your individual order, and have the rods shipped directly.

2. You can sent the moola my way and I'll transfer it with my $$$ after the 25th. If you're in the UK, I can have them shipped to me with my order and then forward them on. Saves on shipping that way too...

On the VAT situation, I'd say unless you have your own VAT number expect to pay the swedish taxes unfortunately, but I'll see what options we get in the next 2 weeks.

This will put it to about £380 all-inc with current exchange rates, a bit higher I know but still it's a very damn good deal.

Payment Options

Just to confirm:

Payment MUST be cash for these rods, I'm afraid. No credit cards

For that reason, I'm waiting till post-payday; ie end of the month. I hope to put the order in at the beginning of March but if there's a problem, please contact me if this causes a problem because we could be a little flexible.

I'm going to transfer money for several buyers in one go - my bank offer free IBAN transfers. If you want to be among this number (shipping should be cheaper this way too). Alternately, you can enquire at your local bank about IBAN transfers, or there are companies that will make the transfer for you at a small fee (but usually give a better exchange rate). i can provide bank details.

I'll post up next week about the tax situation, and then once we have the exact cost per order I'll be looking at final confirmation, addresses and VAT numbers if apliccable.

If you are a non-UK resident, you will be best off to arrange your own payment and Tax situation to avoid multiple taxation and currency exchanges etc.
