One day i'll have both the s2 and an original Quattro sat on the drive

Put it another way: do an IQ test (or spelling test) on randomly chosen S2 owners, then do the same with Impreza Turbo owners. Make your own conclusions/predictions.

The trans in a quattro is one of the simplest, best solutions to an awd car. The engineers at Audi did it way before anyone else too. I had scene a program, fifth gear or top gear, it showed all the new wanabe rally cars (WRX, Evo and something else). The host then said without it, a UR, very likely we wouldn’t have those cars today. Euro cars vs. Jap cars, I can guess which one will always come out on top.

All of the sports cars I own and track are cars that all have a racing pedigree. I saw an S4 at Spa a couple years ago absolutely run circles around vipers, 911s, m3s Ferraris, and panoz. I have watched Audi’s do amazing things in DTM and the Le Mans series. What does Subaru have? Audi made more of an impact on rallying too. It’s really more about the brand. Plus those styles of imports are more liked to snot nosed kids who think they have super cars. On the freeway one tried to race my buddy and me in a Porsche. I love racing in its purest form, and that alone would make the Audi the only logical choice. Even if that new wrx is faster then your decade old s2, at the end of the day you still have an Audi. A well setup s2 will go faster around a track then a wrx. Both in stock form, the wrx will come out on top. Anyone can buy one of those new at the dealer for just over 30K US. You can’t just go out and get an s2, and even if you can it’s not going to be in brand new form. People who dive older quattro’s absolutely beat them to death, they still run great, just not the best.

If you own an Audi you either know how to work on cars, or have enough to pay the lager amount it’s going to cost to maintain it. Both of which are the complete opposite of most Subaru owners. Here in the states most of the Subaru’s are being driven around by granola eating mountain climbers with rainbow stickers on the back. I could go out and get an older Audi around my place for around 5000. With a little work it will be in ready for me to try to break. So which one is really the value. I could get the car for 5, put 25K more into it and which car would be the very fast, fun to drive, high quality, and a strong all around car? Put that 25K into a sti and you might as well have saved a bit more and got a 911.

Sorry to ramble on but this question is comparing apples to apple seeds. One is grown and proper, the other is just a baby wanting to play all the time and not be serious. Especially with its 3inch exhaust and sound similar to a VW hippie bus.

My 2 cents on the Scooby is that if the cars are so reliable Why am I always rebuilding Scooby heads at work?

I haven't seen a 20vt/10vt/16v/32v/40v head in 3 months and I've only seen 3 of those in 8 months of working. We do work for the Stealership so I see a lot of different stuff. If you ask me the Audi is a car the scooby is a toy. The Audi will take abuse day in and day out, if you drive a scooby like most of us (at least around me) drive our Quattro's the scooby will have some serious work beening done. They are nice quick cars, but they are cheapily build with no care for life span. I am driving a 91 200 20vtq with 334k and rising daily orginal enigne and transmission, find me one scooby with that kind of dead nuts reliablity. I have beaten the scooby boys around me with the 200 and they just don't get why, in the straights they pull away, but in the corners I smoke them.

Scoobies are for the boy racers not the car nuts that most of us are. I have a respect for Audi drivers of the old vins as they are neither cheap to maintain or easy, btu the pure joy they give is un matched by anything.

Here is Cape Town the Scoobie guys are great, they have the utmost respect for the Audi Quattro, whether it be the UR, S1, S2 or RS2.
They believe it is Audi's rally formula that eventually led to the cars that they now drive.

The Scoobie Club in the Cape do a lot of Breakfast runs through our beutiful mountiness country side and also take part in hill climb events. At first the youngster ask what kind of Audi is that S2 and by the end of the run it normall changes to ...wtf is that...

They have always invited me along knowing that we share the same passion of attacking the mountain as quickly as our 4WD Turbo charged cars can do.

BTW, my Red Baron is quicker on the Track or hillclimbs than their 06 STIs and after 10years and 100 000 km still alot more reliable.
