Yes I noted that comparison, but you also included the above. Perhaps I misunderstood your point.

Yes they are the same except one is very fast the other is very slow.

My point was to point out desirability as you mentioned that earlier, that it was desirability driving S2 prices up.I was merely pointing out why the S2 has desirability as it's the same car as the 2.8 Coupe quattro only difference being the S2 has the desirable eminently tuneable much raved about 5cyl I5 Turbo lump. The S6 has the same lump therefore is desirable.

Circumstances change and you can't blame a guy for putting it up for top dollar.

Although anything sensibly priced is getting snatched up for profit at the minute, it has to plateau at some point...

I'm not so sure, they're already hitting prices average Joe can't touch so they can't have far to go before nobody can sell them and prices have to be more realistic!

                      I don't agree.

The average rep-mobile, or basic family car these days is £25k. A small (VW) shopping car is £15k. The average Joe has more disposable income as he gets older. Just look at the money for decent (basic) Fords from the 70's / 80's. In a few years time, it will be male menopause era for guys who were spotty teenagers in the 90's and their lust was for RS2/S2 rather than MkII Escorts.

S2's will, of course, always lag well behind an RS2, but they still bask in it's glory. So long as the RS2 continues to climb (and believe me, it has a long way to go), so will the S2 values.

Since when did that stop prices going up? Just means wealthier people buy them as investments...

By same token it doesn't stop house prices going up because people can't afford them.
                        Long overdue correction IMO...
S2/RS2 desirable, rare car with links to rally heritage, rs just had the extra Porsche provenance.

All the time Rs rising, so pro-rata wil S2.

Not too many fabulous finance and hire purchase deals going on 20 year old Audis though, you can't really compare them to brand new cars. People spend that kinda cash on a new car so that they don't have to spend any more keeping the thing running, and we all know it's never that simple with cars of this ilk.

If you look at Lancia integrales evo 2/3, they are 30-40 k. I think the Rs2 will be in that
                            territory.

                            Porsche 968s similar... Club sports 30+ k all day long... Sports 15-20k, and base level 968 10 k +....

I'll stick my finger in the air and say similar for S2 - between 10-15k maybe 2/3 -5years....

A couple of years ago £10k got you a pick of an RS2 when they were on the market...

Cut to today, and minimum is £15k.

They now sell within hours of coming on the market...

Your lucky if a decent S2 is still available after a day or 2 on the market....

Even Cat C/D can fetch £10 k ( albeit low miles/ great condition)

                              Edited because I misquoted....

The last couple of years has only seen a couple of RS2's sold in the UK. There's now reckoned to be about 70 of them (RHD) on the road. Of those, at least half of them are probably fairly tired and needing significant work to bring back to former glory. However, I'd venture that even a tired example will make £15k unseen today.

A nice RS2 went on eBay a few weeks ago and hit £25k before being pulled. I reckon that a good car will find a buyer just now, even at approaching £30k.

I'm a very lucky boy with an RS Blue one and now (recently) a Ragussa Green one. I believe that the Blue (Blau) will always command a premium. Mine is currently going back to bare metal and the paint/rebuild will go well into five figures. The car has only just turned 100k miles and I don't expect to be selling it anytime soon after it's finished. In fact, I wouldn't be selling either of them. It's not always about money!
