SPM Con-Rods Group Buy

Trouble is most people are the same.

Part of my work is in the retail /trade sector. Buy from trade to sell retail.
You get a sales rep come round after you show an interest in stocking/selling a product. Obviously the product is the nuts otherwise you would not be interested in retailing it, but they promise you the earth in terms of stock availability and delivery times.

Which invariably a load of old boallocks. Leaves you right in the mire when people are asking all the time when "their" stuff is going to turn up,and the suplier just fobs you off with its not in stock or we can't deliver untill such and such.

The only saving grace is that on trade terms you don't have to pay up front........

Sounds like demontweeks and whiteline RARB all over again.....................

I thought SPM made the rods. That was the advantage in dealing with him. So why is he waiting for a shipment and where are they made? If he is effectively the retailer who is the manufacturer?
Or have I misunderstood!

Seems like he not making the rods, maybe they made in China like Eagle..

I was originally under the impression that SPM being a smaller outfit forged their own rods... seems they order them in, but I don't think they are the eurospec ones. Admittedly they do have a top reputation if you search the volvo tuning forums... it's reckoned some SPM parts are made in California, could be the same for the rods and that would explain a week's shipping time to Sweden?

I understand that Sten could be just as pressured trying to get his supplier to deliver on time as we are to get the goods, but I still find it a little frustrating that I wasn't even warned there could be supply problems until the day after the order cleared... still, if they arrive next week and they're as reputation is deserved, I'll be content with bloody goods rods at a damn good price

Does beg the question if he is buying them in and able to sell at this price, where is he buying them in from cos he must be taking a cut on these as well.... be interesting to find the source and how much further the price could go down!

Get a tracking number for Sten's delivey from his source, from Sten - We have a lot of money involved here, and no confirmed delivery date. ( Edited - I can't type)
Then talk nicley to TNT and find out where they are coming from. :mischeif:

Well, I haven't heard from Sten this week, was just abouts to drop him an email and get an update. usually they say no news is good news, but I don't think that applies with SPM... nevertheless, I'll post up as soon as I hear back.

Hopefully this guy will come though for you though it really pisses me off when traders and shops say they have something in stock or "being made right now"! and it is TOTAL BS

because a few of you Im sure would not have ordered the rods knowing the wait would be so crazy. Especially the guy who wanted to enter a competition.

Unfortunately, lots of places do this, even the big players. They advise there is stock or a batch been made to get your bucks, then wait until they have the numbers to complete a production run. If you need rods badly try Arrows, they've had them on the shelf in the past. Hope they turn up for you soon, we all know what it's like to be kept waiting for something to turn up in the post

Out of curiosity i emailed Sten to find out the availability of our H-beam rods, i got this reply an hour later,

Hi all, hopefully some good news here... Sten emailed me this evening and said that he is still expecting delivery tomorrow.. not counting my chickens yet, but looks good for shipping tomorrow. Watch this space!

Edit: Jon, sten also mentioned that any further orders will be shipped may 10-20 range, or in June depending on the number of orders. So that shouldn't apply to us.
