I might be also interested in those pistons. In few days my engine is opened and then I can see in what condition they are. How big should I take if I will bore them bigger - 81,5 mm?

kaaperdaja,
We have placed our orders but feel free to phone Steve at JE and try and get your order in as well. If you are going with the 81.48 diameter pistons and similar specs you should be able to get them at our price.
81.48 is the second stnandard overbore size of pistons.S2,RS2,S4 WB,RS4,S4 B8,RS6 C5,RS6 C6,R8Comment

Careful there Doug. 81.5 is the standard overbore, each piston manufacturer will have their own recommended clearance and therefore their own piston diameter.Originally posted by Doug_RS2

Just tell them it is for a 81.5 bore.

Bad wording there - the standard(off-the-shelf Mahle) 2nd oversized piston is 81.48mm - the standard 2nd overbore(for those pistons) of the cylinder is 81.51mm.
It depends on how you want to specify these sizes - and the piston manufacturers piston-to-wall clearances.S2,RS2,S4 WB,RS4,S4 B8,RS6 C5,RS6 C6,R8Comment

Mmm, what have we asked for 81.48 or a piston to fit 81.5 bore, cant remember, sorry bad week brain mangled :wacked: .

We have asked for 81.48 and were advised that they require a 0.0035" (0.0889mm) to 0.004" (0.101gmm) piston-to-wall gap.
So we should be honing to: 81.48 + 0.0889 +0.0889 = 81.6578mm (minimum) to 81.48 + 0.101 +0.101 = 81.682mm
I want to confirm what we should hone our blocks to first though - incase I have mixed up wall to piston with piston to bore difference!! - but I will be waiting till they arrive to be sure of piston sizes.S2,RS2,S4 WB,RS4,S4 B8,RS6 C5,RS6 C6,R8Comment

Best to wait for pistons for final honing as you have mentioned. The clock has started at JE, we should have pistons in 4-5 weeks!Originally posted by Doug_RS2

Just had a reply from JE:
I will be doing the charge today.....
The pistons will be made for an 81.5mm bore....This will give the correct piston to wall clearance...But DO NOT bore the block until the pistons are in hand....
Thanks....Steve
This is concerning me as I specifically asked for 81.48mm piston diameter as one of my cylinders has been rebored to 81.5mm to make sure the scores were removed. I need to check with my machine shop tomorrow what exactly has been done. It might have been 81.50 or 81.51(which is the standard 2nd overbore)
