    Driving down through France in the summer, The wife and I were discussing this as a holiday last year...

    I really must get across to europe with the S2 at some point. The best I can do is 6.00am on a bank holiday. Now that is driving, nothing on the road and the sound of a turbocharged 5 pot at full tilt

    Cheers,

    Steve

                      I used normal run of the mill filler for the flat surface area of the wheel if needed.
                      One of those Avus rims had a HUGE chunk out of the outer rim (about half the size of a fifty pence piece)
                      I used chemical metal to repair that.

                      Some pics of the Avus rims fitted.

                          A couple of peeps have asked questions about this topic, refering to this thread.
                          Pictures aren't showing because the gallery on Audifans is down getting a good overhaul (10k+ pictures )

                          For some reason this particular "guides and top tips" forum WILL not let me edit my previous posts, so I can't edit the links to the pictures, hence I can't relink the pictures. So I've had to tag this posts on the end of the thread showing them below.

                            Paulgo's 16" Avus Alloys >>

                            And a recently refurbed set of Toyota Celica alloys. These were the worst condition set I've done yet. Very very crap finish on them from the factory.

                            A reminder;
                            Deep scratches that can't be sanded out of the surfaces, I use a fine paste car body filler.
                            Chunks out of the rim edges that can't be filed or sanded out, I use Wurth chemical metal. (If the chunk is deeper than 50% of the rims width, forget it)
                            Paint is Audi Avus Silver from the dealers. LLS 0M6 Z17, that gets you one tin of base and one tin of lacquer for about £11.
                            I now have a spray gun, so buy paint made up from a trade paint supplier.

                            Next job is a very rare set of Nothelle 16" alloys in 4x108 pattern for AOC cheif Andy. Polished and then lacquered in a smoked finish. Pics when I'm done.
