does anyone have a decent photo of the diff from the side?
I forgot how the casing cover is positioned, with the magnet on the bottom I would guess??

I can take a picture tomorrow. What side do you want left or right, any specific markings you want to see?
From your picture it looks to be the left side with the difflock entry point

Thanks. no it's the other side where the larger cover is, the one with the 9 bolts (my photo is showing the inside of the cover)

and if anyone has a lead where to source the larger V8 seal, part# 017 525 400 C that would be much appreciated. seems NLA everywhere.

I know Jeffer suggests re-using the one that is in the V8 donor diff (and that he has done this a few times already), I'm a bit worried that my chances on a successful attempt to remove it in reusable order are a "a bit" smaller. that and the fact that is is well over 30 years old now

found a page from etka showing the magnet, seems my assumption was correct:

btw: what do you mean with "backlash in the crown wheel" ?

would it be OK to use an impactgun on them?

Order replacements first, they are often corroded in place and just strip the head out.

please clarify? it's a swap over, not just removal

                                google found this post:

                                stating "10Nm +90deg"
followed by a post stating "I just tighten them"

anyone have 'official' info, like a workshopmanual?
