My new toy - classic or clunker?

Had a new arrival today :

Lovely condition for 179,000 miles. Never thought I'd ever end up buying seat covers from Halfrauds but the interior needs preserving - it's immaculate, no wear or tears.

A revelation to drive, it's like a chuffing go-kart after the fat A4 quattro. The Eibach / Bilstein combo and full Magnex (including 4-branch) help too! :mischeif:

Had a good old blat tonight, got out with a big retro grin on my face - marvellous!

I'll take more pics once the weather improves if anyone's interested...

Cheers, no, it's not Fatty's - it's shy of a couple of doors, not quite as shiny, and a far better driver's seat!

Got a few niggles, but nothing major (4 small bubbles of rust, 1 in the usual LHD wiper blank location and the rest around the hatch button plinth, a lazy ICV, and recalcitrant central locking) otherwise spot on.

Should make a nice little weekend/show motor, and something to bomb about in while the A4 gets clutch and t'ing.

Still a great looking car. I have "first refusal" on an oak green 8v GTI belonging to a mate of my son. I had a weber equipped MK 2 golf before getting into Audis. Shame, only just threw away all the GTI comics from the 90s.....

Class ic had about a dozen Golfs back during the nineties from 1.6 Mk1 GTis to VR6s along with all the incarnations of the mk2 was truly a sad day when i let my last Mk2 go

Nice work, I'm jealous! Need to get another mk.2 GTi fix and soon... shame I spent the mk.2 udget on S2 maintenance and toys.

15" BBS RY, 2 piece with titanium bolts, discontinued around 1996 I believe, all brand new, 3 of the boxes never opened! Marvellous!
