Whats the difference between the KR and 6A?

I've heard of an ABF conversion that is a 2.0 lump, thinkin of doin this one myself but the ABF appears hard to come by.

      Thanks

ABF is a tall block from a MK3 16v, Toledo, Ibiza etc. And are all 16mm taller (236mm) block than the standard block KR/6A/9A/ACE (220mm).
The ABF brings complications when fitting the exhaust under the bulkhead in the mk2, and the inlet manifold can rub on the bonnet.

The 6A, ACE and 9A have a virtually same block as the KR. the breather housing is slightly different and the oil filter housing, but can be used in the golf easily.
Just the bore and Stroke are larger on the 6A and 9A.
        6A/9A/ACE- 92.8mm stroke, 82.5mm bore. Rods=159mm
        KR- 86.4mm stroke, 81mm bore. Rods=144mm

6A, ACE and 9A are both 2.0 and are easy enough to come by if you know where to look.

        6A- Audi 80 16v, 16v quattro sport
        ACE- Audi Coupe B4 16v
        9A- Corrado 2.0 16v and Passat GT

Cheers fella, but I think I've already got it from the ClubGTi forum - Starts with the line: "Fitting a 2.0 16v motor to a Mk1 or Mk2 Golf is becoming increasinly (sic) popular..."

The 6a turned up this morning, but I didn't have chance to unwrap it, so not sure if it has the later, angled oil cooler housing yet...

I'm now thinking I should have taken the opportunity to try and squeeze a ABY in there, for maximum kudos on here! (mind you, it would render my J6 VVW number plate meaningless)

Quick update - not much I'm afraid!

I'm sure I used to be better at making spare time for this kind of thing - I guess family / home / desk job / fitness regime all conspire to reduce garage time.

Still, I've made a start on stripping the 6A - it's a luxury to be able to work on an engine outside the confines of the engine bay for once! If anyone needs any ancillaries for a 6A - pm me!

Unfortunately progress will continue to be pathetic - we've got clients in the office testing a software release this week so long hours at work again...
