Nip, you can run RS2, 2871 or 3071 turbo on a standard bottom end but just make sure that the tuner is aware of the torque (and therefore boost) limitations and maps accordingy, it's all just a bit closer to the limits. You can run a standard RS2 setup or a standard RS2 remap, there are many mapped RS2s on stadard bottom ends.

Swapping the rods is not a bad idea. It's also a good oportunity to make sure the HG is new, fit some ARP head studs and get the bottom end balanced and a SM flywheel on there so that it runs sweet as a nut. Oh, and get the head flowed and rebuilt. It'll double your budget but you'll get 400+ rather than a limited 350... just my 2p.

Well, I'd say that 400nm at the wheels on a Mustang dyno is fairly decent. It translates to close to 550nm at the flywheel.

As long as everything else is OK (no blocked injectors, etc) you will be perfectly fine, sensible mapping (not too much ignition advance that can cause knock/pre ignition at low rpms (this is what kills rods))
Your setup will be equal to a remapped ADU, and nobody changes rods for that.
