Cheers guys. The date for painting was this month really, I think that's unlikely now though. We should have perfect for the new year. I think it's a case of knowing when to stop, it's not a show car but I do want it to be as tidy as possible without spending thousands blinging it up.
Progress has been slow but I've had a lot of other commitments for the past few months.
I've started sorting all the new bolts for it, thats quite a job in itself as eveything is either unf or whitworth and I can't say I'm that familiar with either of those!Comment

Floors are now finally finished, just the harness mounts to finish then its time to get back onto the exterior panels.
Sorry about the low quality pictures, my phone dislikes the workshops lack of light.

The car will realistically be ready for paint in January, there isn't a hell of a lot to finish, the steel bootlid, perspex rear window and sort the door handle issue out, I guess that and the rear wing are probably the 2 next biggest jobs to sort although the spoiler mountings may just be some cnc'd alloy uprights so that will save me time, but no doubt cost me a few quid !
Chris, forgot to answer your last question, the carbon is lighter than alloy, however its prone to splinters if it took a hit which might end up putting something into a tire so I've decided against using it on the underside, I will have some honeycomb panels made in time like I think Dave Rowe has but its not urgent and my mate can do that as of when I need them.
I can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel, all be it a long tunnel lolComment

Ahh good point. I guess a tyre would obliterate carbon. Glad your getting there mate. Should be pretty good when finished! Looking forward to seeing it.Comment

Thanks Mark, have you done anything with that engine yet !
Cheers Chris, as the tyres are nigh on £350 each and I'd probably have to replace both if it punctured one I thought it wasn't worth the risk all for a couple of kilos, if that.
As I've said before we'll meet up at a trackday, bring a helmet and I'll take you out for a session.Comment

I forgot to mention that we tried to move the shell last night and just me and my mate can pick it up easily which was a shock, I'm guessing its probably no more than a few hundred kilos which isn't bad for what it is, I'm thinking it may be around the 800kg mark when fully built which is getting on as light as some of my old novas !Comment

I am mate, its nice to know it was a working car so mechanically I haven't got all the troubles you would normally encounter, engine is dynoed so all I need to do it drop it in and connect up some wires and hoses and press the start button

The engine is good for over 500hp, its running something like 450hp at the moment, they only mapped it to 1.9 bar on the dyno as I'll now assume the car is light so no need to work the engine too hard. It is only one trackday old though so nice and fresh, it has a lot of potential being that its already on the motorsport spec block and dry sumped, it also has 8 injectors so fuelling isn't ever going to be a issue...hopefully !
I may have it tweeked in the future, I think the dogbox is only rated to about 450lbft as well so its not really worth pushing my luck with that, future plans will be a GT series turbo, larger intercooler and a sequential box although the gearbox is the last thing on the list !Comment

I guess so, hadn't really thought about it like that lol
If you want to see what a similar power engine does in a Westfield then watch this :
Thats a GT spec turbo though and he only runs that at around 400hp as its too noisy on full boost, thats 160mph GPS on the back straight lol
V fast car, nice to see the YB still being used to frighten people.Comment

I couldn't get over the performance of it ! Lee can drive too. Saying that I've been out on the road in his mates red one which is same spec but more power, on low boost it was savage, at 2.6bar on a 3076r it felt like it was pulling wheelies in 4th and 5th, never in my life experienced anything like it.
As you say though from a safety point of view I'd rather be in something with a roof and a windscreen
