Talking about getting your head round it, wrap a towel around your steering column and tape it up. It's amazing that even though you know it's there you smash your head on it every 5 or 10 mins.

Oh and put the plastic trims back along the cill as them little spiky things have wrecked no end of my overalls and jabbed me in the ***** plenty of times

Happy days, I had already started to unplug stuff after a good butchers and noticed that there all marked up colour coded etc, I had numbered the spade connectors that weren't individually identifiable and took loads of pic's for reference. The connector colours are also moulded into the fuse board, gotta love them Audi engineers. Still proving to be a ball ache as the loom criss cross the car and interconnets with other looms! Once it out it will be much easier to sort through on the driveway where I can lay it all out, almost there now.

Its from Paul's (S2central) website here - http://www.s2central.net/ He has been a great help with me and my project. Also does some nice "Homefry" chips for your ECU. My dad likes the one he put in his S6.
Cheers matey, its bloody back braking huddled under the dash. I have had a quick read of that schematic thingy before, think I might have to read it again to get my head round it! I'm sure it will make more sense to me now I've seen it all.

I have thought about these "homefries", what can be expected from a stock setup? Are there any recommended mods to go with it?

That sounds like a good idea to me, don't want be doing this to often!

The aircon is already gone, the previous owner stripped alot of the stuff out, there is still a few bits to remove but I will get them out when I pull the motor. Non-aircon heater box is lighter you say! Anybody want to swap one for an aircon'd one? I will have a search on the bay of fleas later.

Does anybody know if the connectors in the back of the relay board/fuse box are idiot proof? i.e. keyed individually so can't get it in the wrong hole, ahem .

Be sure to fit a new heater matrix before reinstalling it! Are you deleting aircon BTW? If so its worth changing to a non-aircon heater box to save a bit of weight and allow fitment of the boigger glove box

But it looks like you are nearly on top of it.

As far as the wiring is concerned,
If you take your time putting it back in one loom at a time you can make it a damn sight neater than when it cam out the factory.
    Cheers fella

I have thought about the swap across to another shell thing and while it would probably be alot easier it would no longer be an original S2 i guess, I also gathered from Error404's thread that the ABY coupes have some additional strengthening pieces!?! I'm determined not to be beaten anyway but I haven't seen the full extent of the chassis's condition yet so there is a small chance I will chicken out but lets see what im up against first.

I have attempted to remove the central electrics still connected to the relay board & fuse box, is this making the job more difficult than neccesary? Top tip though on installing them one at time, knowing me I would have struggled like mad to install it all still connected up

Time to remove the heater box thingy and try & complete operation medusa!

I haven't a clue where she goes, you may well be right though. I'm going to attempt to remove the whole thing tomorrow and hopefully the central electrics shortly after.

No need for answers on a postcard either, you can post it right here
It's hard to see, but is it loom that goes to the heater recirculate valve? Under the heater box to the left, if you didn't know.

Everyday I try and put a few hours in, can't wait to get all the wiring out, starting to do my head in! It so tightly packed under the dash I just hope I can stuff it all back in there when im done. I haven't got to the desk lamp stage yet though lol, I tend to work until its dark then flake out & read & soak in some ideas from here, I've been doing some serious lurking

I guess the mystery wire will reveal itself when I pull that mahoosive heater box jobbie out tomorrow.

I will send you a PM regarding the tyres, cheers matey

WOW, I'm amazed at how much you've done. Great work there fella and top marks for getting on with it. Send me a PM of what tyres you need and size and I'll get you a price delivered. Rusty is right about tyres you pay for what you get when it comes to tyre and handling. I remember the vipers nest very well after doing my heater matrix in December in a garage with no electric and a desk lamp when it got dark..........
