Piston ring info, page 2 has some good info regarding quality.

Fresh bearings and rods/fasteners sounds good if you can do it now. Do you need to drop the compression for the power level you are aiming for?

Wow my huge collection of bits I don't need but may come in handy one day was worth alot more than I thought Been Ebaying like a mad man and I have some pennies in the kitty

I've also sold my S2 Interior, only a few bits left so if anyone needs anything PM me, there really is no going back now, stripped out beastie it is then!

A big, big, big thank you to DJH for stepping in with a donor coop shell for me just need to go and fetch it, pictures will follow

Small update then, since the weather has now decided it wants to be winter I've been confined to the garage twiddling me thumbs, got bored & started stripping the motor down :mischeif:

First impressions are that everything looks spot on inside, nothing nasty and no surface cracks in the combustion chambers, was to be expected really as the motor ran very well before coming off the road, its just the chassis couldn't really take it and the brakes were a bit scary lol.

Im wondering if its worth chucking a set of fresh bearings, forged rods, compression drop my pistons & tighten it all with some ARP fasteners while its on the stand, should allow me to bolt on a big boys turbo down the line. Whats a set of new rings for ABY pistons cost, ball park?

b pillars - if you pull the door seal away its 4x rivits behind and it pulls outward then if need be 2x allen heads and 1x 10mm inside to remove glass
c pillars - do you mean the small trim at base of c pillar? if so they just push on, gentle leavering removes these.
    Top man

Todays efforts got the engine bay bare, happiness

Just need to remove the pedal box and then everything is gone

I had a moment of madness and removed this lot never to be returned

I might make some tricky gussets for the chassis legs in place of those procon ten cast jobbies, there quite hefty those two lumps and make it a ball ache getting the steering rack out! Not sure there will be much benefit bracing the legs to the bulkhead?

Really flagging now! I think I will remove the subframes and lines under the car once the spit arrives, save me back a little. Just a few more bits to come off and its spit ready.

Anyone know how to remove the exterior A, B & C pillar trims?

if its the cheese wire one and you can get it behind then yes worth a shot with that as your hands will be away from the screen when doing the sawing.

The other option is on ebay you should be able to get the tool to help remove the screen, like a stanley knife blade with a add on that lets you cut thru the bonding stuff.

Just hope it ain't been fitted with tiger seal, that stuffs mental trying to remove.
Is it worth trying this? knowing my luck I will slit my wrists in the process lol. I will see how many squids they want to remove it before trying myself.

I like your thinking, very sneeky But im not sure what they would think turning up to a bare shell lol, "honestly mate I've just driven home and got that great ruddy crack in it"

I hope with a fresh assembly leaks wont be a worry for a while.

I will update again later as the engine bay is nearly empty and as you can tell I like a thread with lots of pics

Glad your enjoying the read, im hoping to keep it updated right till the end with full documentation of the repairs.

I've heard a couple of people try remove them without much success, its probably easier to let autoglass or someone fit a new one if possible so that you can have a go if that it still leaks

Good progress with this, really enjoying keeping an eye on this thread.

She's nearly there now, getting there anyway.

I used marine clean but didnt agitate it just sprayed it on and rinsed it off a few minutes later, took all the gloopy mess away which I was getting covered in. I will have another go with a brush when the bays empty.

I should be able to order the spit before the end of the week, then its doors off, hatch & bonnet off a bit of internal bracing to stop it flopping to much! I was having a look at it yesterday, the chassis is going to end up quite high up to clear the ground, that seems a bit scary as i live right on the coast and we often bare the brunt of the Atlantic ocean, she can be a bit lairy! I might get it into position at the right height and rawl bolt the rotesserie to the driveway stop it taking off

Im hoping to get all the welding, underseal & cavity wax done ASAP, welder should be another 2 weeks yet so by the time it arrives I'm hoping to have it on the spit with all the underseal off ready to go.

Right now then, These coupe windscreens. I've read there a bit of a ****** to get out? How many have had it removed successfully by the pros? If there just going to break it anyway I will just chuck a lump hammer through it and save the cost, I have to repair the screen frame bubbles if its getting fresh paint
