Pop: That is not an OE RS2 brake booster. The RS2 had same the hydraulic/pneumatic booster system as the C4 UrS4/S6s that you have. Quoting Huksa: "I know this brake booster is not original, because it says "Mando" - A major automotive supplier to Hyundai/Kia. I may replace the booster with Audi one. Suggestion is welcome here."

    2 questions,
1.This car is located in Korea?

That's great to know there's another RS2 in Asia.Unfortunately, none of them in Thailand.
I got an offer from a salvage dealer from Japan about selling a blue RS2.The sad thing
is It's LHD.I will need to import that car and get another old 80 and registered the RS2
    as 80.

Remapped by a garage in Korea? Interesting, wonder how much they know about this sort of thing.

I don't think the car makes 350PS right now. Of course it depends if this car had cylinder head work done by MTM at some point, but if the head is still standard, then 1 bar to redline will be about 320PS.

To make 350 PS you need approx. 1.2-1.3 on stock head, and to make 400 you need 1.5.

The plumbing for the turbo looks quite bad. Especially the fact that the filter is fitted directly onto the MAF. The MAF will not report correct readings this way.
All of that should be redone properly, the best way would be to re-fit stock airbox with modifications...

    Good luck with your car.

A few queries about the car
    1) Why is there a wire on top of the coil cover? It looks like an alternative earth strap
    2) How big is the exhaust pipe from the back of the turbo? In the picture it looks like 2-2.5 inch! infact it looks the same size as the wastegate output
    3) Why on earth is the pcv valve connected directly to the cam cover on the back of the head?

The "S" badge on the rear hatch is incorrect. The correct badge (still available on eBay) looks like the lower one in this photo:

The wastegate is non-stock. Presumably there is a compatible wastegate control valve in there somewhere that controls both the upper and lower chambers (there are two lines, stock only has one).

MTM would not have used a Greddy turbo so that isn't part of the original mods. MTM would have likely used some variety of KKK turbo.

The original brake booster on the RS2 was a hydraulic system, not a vacuum system. MTM would not have made a modification using a Japanese vacuum booster.

That gold covered wire is non-stock and not an MTM modification. It is probably part of an aftermarket stereo install. There are better places to ground than the coil pack plate.

One point of criticism is the turbo intake. It is probably supposed to be a "cold air" intake but I don't see any shielding to prevent hot air from being drawn from the engine bay. The piping also looks like a bottle-neck with all those bends. I would wonder if the piping on the inside is as rough as on the outside (due to the welding). I am sure there are others here who can suggest better alternatives.

That's a good place to start. I was wondering what was done by MTM and what else by other "tuners". As I said in the OP, nobody exactly knows this RS2's modification history.. I am going to visit some good garages for more comments.

One of big problems here is, because of the close proximity with Japan, most garages are comfortable with Japanese aftermarket parts and probably that's why my RS2 is now equipped with Greddy turbo.

It will be an interesting journey to see how and where I will go in reparing my RS2.

One question, though. Would you elaborate more on the brake system? (pros and cons betwen Hydraulic vs. vacuum) Oh, on another note, the brake booster is not Japanese. It's Korean.

You are probably right. I know some garage in Korea has remapped the ECU because of all the problems and post-MTM works. The boost was intentionally set at 1 bar as a baseline and I am keen to keep it that way until I have it checked thoroughly and become assured that it is safe to dial up.

With all the mods it's probably at least 'stage 4' tuned by MTM so you should be seeing more like 500hp and 2 bar boost.
Of course if the turbo is wrong for the map it's unlikely to run to it's full potential, I would be happy if I was you. Knowing that there is a lot more power to unlock!
You have a special car nonetheless.

The problem with this particular car is that nobody knows exactly what was done with MTM. It was imported to Korea by the first owner in 2003 or 4, complete with the MTM mod. It looks like the second owner had neglected the car for some time. The third owner (I am the fourth) tried to bring the car back and all the turbo related work was changed to the current set up.
The third owner who sold the car to me told that when he first test drove this one it stalled at every traffic stop. Now the car goes very strong, though.
The boost is set at 1.0 bar now. And on the dyno it pulls around 350ps. And I drive an ISF with 420ps from the factory, so it seems natural that my RS2 doesn't feel that fast or powerful. What I am going to try to do with this RS2 is not making it faster or more powerful, but keeping it clean and sound, mechanically and aesthetically.
