Had an 8am MOT today ( it passed
) so I'd thought I grab a couple of pics on the way home

This is the same lay by that the quattro photo shoot was done in that I linked the other week. http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthr...ht=photo+shoot

The car has handled everything that I've thrown at it this week and not got stuck once, winter tyres and quattro really are a great combination.sigpic

I have been getting around in my A3 winter hack without too many problems with the snow. Only that other vehicles get in the way, but if there was room I could get past, including a Discovery, a Range Rover, Volvo XC90, a Mitsubishi Shogun and even a snowplough!
I took the GoPro out with me, but the damn battery was flat.
I have a nice large local crossroads which are just about wide enough for making snow circles.

I think the trouble with these huge 4x4s is that they are so high, heavy, unstable. As said, people use them in RWD all the time, so either don't know how, or can't put them in 4WD.
I take a tow-rope and a shovel out with me to rescue other cars. But sorry, I am not going to pull a 2 ton+ 4x4 out.
I was following a Discovery up a steep hill when it came to a stop, then I saw its wheels spinning. Luckily it was on a main road, so I could just drive around it. What's the matter with these people and their vehicles?
I start to struggle in anything much more than 20cm, when I can start to get beached. I also have to keep clearing the radiator from snow. I find having the heater on full blast helps keep the coolant temperature in check. That's another advantage with the S2, having the radiator further back in the car.
Does anyone know how much ground clearance you can get on a Coupé with KW V1s wound right up? Or should I put some wheels on my S2 and check myself?
I can understand why some choose to keep their valuable S2s safe at home when it is icy and snowy. We had a lucky escape when someone slid down the road and nearly hit the Lupo, it was lucky the Lupo was able to reverse out of the way to avoid a collision. I should really put winter tyres on the Porsche to save putting the valuable cars at risk.
