    Oh! Noooooooooo,

So sorry to hear this Mike I can't believe that the insurance have classed this as a cat A I know you have probably had enough of messing about with them but I would argue for a cat C at least, I would say she is not un-repairable.

But to them its all about money and economics of repair

Hope you get sorted with the insurance mate.

it will cost the insurance company more that way,why dont they just pay you half of what its worth and you can repair it yourself,i would go to the insurance ombudsman and put your case across

If I were driving the crusher I'd be eyeing up a wee homer lol.
Yeah it's going to be a pretty expensive cube but I'm sure someone will come up with a decent offer and have the know how to bring her back, I'd much prefer that she went to a new owner of course, as we all know they are getting more rare by the month...

Cat A also means you should not salvage any parts from the vehicle.

Yeah that's pretty much what they are saying too Andy, I was really hoping for some monetary assistance from them then I could just throw most of the cash into he r and have no worries about scrimping on new parts if required... Too much of a waste to crush her, but it really is about balancing out the costs and what is left on my bank !!!!

Scrap your vehicle at an authorised treatment facility if it’s reached the end of its life and you want to dispose of it

    Salvage categories

Your insurance company will tell you which salvage category your vehicle is. This determines what you can do with the vehicle or its parts.

‘Category A’ means that the entire vehicle is so badly damaged it should be crushed and never used on the road again. You can’t salvage any parts from the vehicle or use them in another vehicle.

‘Category B’ means that body shell should be crushed, but some parts can be salvaged. The vehicle can never be used on the road again, but some parts can be used in other vehicles.

‘Category C’ means the vehicle can be repaired but the costs are more than the vehicle’s value. The vehicle can be used on the road again if it’s repaired to a roadworthy condition.

‘Category D’ means the vehicle can be repaired and the costs are lower than the vehicle’s value. The vehicle can be used on the road again if it’s repaired to a roadworthy condition.

RIGHT here we go....this pains me more than getting myself stuck in my zipper fly.....

I'm putting her up for sale now as a running project??!! Talked with the insurance and they now just said on Friday (after all I informed them about in the beginning of the extent of the water damage, how long she was under for (only a few hours) and what my plans were for me to restore her) that they will CAT A her as they feel that she cannot be saved ( horse droppings) and that had been contaminated too much??? Anyway they are going to get back to me after reviewing their evidence and pictures plus the pictures and info I am sending them too of how she was before all this. Am totally frustrated with them as they at the time told me they would see what the state was with estimates and what not, nothing about them CAT A'ing her...nothing about I could not fix her myself blah blah blah.

Unfortunately I am still not working and seem to not be able to find anything either locally or distant, also I have spent over £1500 already on tools and equipment to assist me in working on her in the lock up, which will be getting sold but I'm sure I have someone interested in some of the equipment. Due to me still not working and no fundage coming in so cannot pour any more money into the project...of course this saddens me without doubt but it is what it is. If someone has the know how to put her back together and funds to carry out the rest of the work then fair do's but I do not want to go down the route of breaking her, hope she will go as a one off....

I'd much prefer she was saved by someone who has the time and better facilities to take her on, however I should find out tomorrow from insurance what they are prepared to offer me for her, which of course means that she would be an A cat and not able to go back on the road.........

Glad to see you have got a new run a round as well what do you think compared to the Q7?

    Keep up the good work

    John
Thanks John, time is of the essence. The new runaround is nice, but compared to a Q7 in my mind is a big difference, but I do really like her and removing the chrome bits soon, one car at a time...

We can't afford to loose anymore RS2's now, getting rare.
Well mostly it's cleaning up the entire car, time consuming but worth it. I heard of other cars that were right under the water that are now running again so there is hope. Yes they are very rare...
