Whilst you need a licence to purchase an A or B from the insurance company, I understood the owner could retain a B.

Really beyond me how they cannot realise the rarity of these cars, knowing myself and those on here that have done it before that they can be restored, I've stripped the entire interior out to clean it all, oh well maybe one day I will get another...and a leftie too...

Not sure about the export import idea, and time is ticking now....

Also the whole ABCD write off thing appears to an ABI code of practice, not law? But once its in the system all the insurance companies and salvages companies should follow the code.

I've looked on that link and the flowchart is a little confusing...it's mainly relating to the accident damaged cars, bent chassis and total burn outs, nothing about flooded vehicles that had no power going through the electrical system...

I've asked about retaining her since January and they said before that I could now they changed their mind after they had a look at the pictures sent...the height of the lines of water marks inside and out...

I've already mentioned that they have detailed pictures of her, I think they will notice, plus anyone who takes her into a scrap yard will see these are not the proper lights...

So they told me, I asked how I could be assured that this would happen and that the dismantler would not be just rubbing his hands and saying that it would be crushed an in fact wait a few days then break her...after removing parts first...but if they are paying me what I paid for her then it's up to them, I will get a picture of the chassis number and engine number and post them up here to ensure that if these are sold on then the buyer will know where they came from...

I know right? I sad that all the running gear and engine are fine, it's like it was said before, like she was driven in poor winter muddy conditions, but the underside is actually pretty clean because the water dropped down so quickly that it took all the dirt with it, only where it rested on surfaces where it had not where to run is where it was worse, even then it is cleanable.

I'd say the engine is still spot on, a little maintenance and there you go...

But for RR they can claim on their insurance and have them built again...I lost one too had to wait ages to get a replacement...in fact I'm still waiting, better get back onto the agent...

Despite the pragmatic decision, the loss of any rare car is unfortunate.
