  • GROUP BUY stainless steel subframe washers 823-199-347

    Hello all,

Large subframe washer 823 199 347 is NLA and occasionally available on ebay ranging from £1.60 - 4.50 each for standard zinc plated mild steel items.

Standard repair washers don't seem to match the spec of 40x10.5x3mm so I am considering getting some laser cut from stainless steel to finish off my subframe refurbishment project nicely.

I've got a price for 2 sets of 8 (4 front, 4 rear) which i am happy with but have been told that if i order 100 the price comes down to £1 each.

I've got interest in a 3rd set to total 24 so far, If I can rustle up interest in another 76 (or 80 = 10 sets) then i will get them ordered. postage should be small packet and therefore not mad unlike the cost in this add...

    cheers

Yes, they are mild steel with zinc plating. When I looked at that website they were £1.62 including English vat. £1 each for stainless steel looking a good option to me! they are also 2.5mm, the stainless I am asking to get cut is 3mm.. Not strictly necessary but the mild steel ones I took off were definitely thinner than 2.5mm due to rust.

I would like a set but I think the Avant bolts are slightly larger? Are the diameter of the washers also bigger?

Because I may end up taking money off people, I want to be absolutely sure the holes are 10mm as per spec on OE washer 823 199 347. I've just taken a front subframe bolt off my 7A coupe and it is indeed also 10mm. Some research shows there is actually a 12mm version but no clear split as to when or which model they came on. This thread seems to suggest that 95 year ABY S2 has 12mm front and 10mm rear subframe. 3B S2 and CQ are 10mm front and rear...

If you know your bolt sizes update me with whether you need 4 made with a 12mm hole otherwise they will be 10mm. Sorry for the confusion!

                S2eds 2 sets
                Me 1 set

Thanks all so far - 7 more sets to hit the 100 threshold!

Tractor Dave, see above - unless you know from your rebuild what you have, i don't know of any way of telling other than if yours is a 95 year then, it seems like they had 12mm front bolts and 10mm in the rear. Suppliers of polybushes list the same bushes to suit Coupe and Avant but still add on 'depending on bolt size'.

I cant remember now. It seems like ages ago! Put me down for 12mm front and 10mm rear. I can always drill them out if necessary.

@john, no worries - a set in my book is 8

If we hit the threshold then it will £1 a washer plus p+p.

3 more sets to hit the 100, there is no need to stop there but at some point I need to get the order in. I will give it a week and get the order in on Wednesday 3rd.
