I made the mistake of fitting a new OE clutch to mine only to have the dual mass goe south after a couple of thousand more miles. Two bills to remove the gearbox is not fun

Lightweight alloy all the way. You should have had a go revving mine at GTi the difference between ABY dual mass and Alloy is a world apart.

Is that an open offer since your only down the road?

I wanted to keep the dual mass as i'm told the car is a pig in traffic with a lightweight flywheel and not very nice to drive?

It can be a nightmare in traffic but IMO that is more down to the clutch than the flywheel.

Cheers jamo ive got a 7A flywheel laying about so might just use that but the 4.5kg O1A alloy flywheels are very tempting.
Have you thought of going with water injection to reduce charge temps as i have only heard good things about it ?

                      >>>>> flywheel 4.5kg

It is quite light. You can maybe cope with that if warm engine idle is raised to 1100 to 1300 rpm. I prefer about ~8kg 3B level flywheel. The ligter the better and revs like animal but stop and go traffic is painful.

with 4,5kg you can rev up to 9500 if valve springs tolerate the limit.

Hehe... glad to see things are finally coming together there Jamo! Feels really great when the part list actually gets smaller (about time!) but you just wait till the bills for fitting it start rolling in

I'm getting so ansi to have my car back. I WANT MY S2
