Well Done Prosty !! Excellent times ther.
Are you not thinking of going with 17 inch rims and tyres ?
I found the 16's to lack traction seriously.

I don't know. The 16's Avus have Advan 032 tyres now. The traction on normal pavement is excellent, however on "prepared" pavement on the track the car just spins out of control. Too much power... I will try to experiment some more later this year at the track. And maybe a 10 second run will be the reward. That would be awesome

              Today my engine went booom...

I'm taking the head of tomorrow to see the damage. I think it's valve related. stuck valve or a blown piston. We'll see later.

Just the other day I was thinking about going with JE pistons. Maybe this will happen now, however if the Head is smashed, I'll give up. no way I'm redoing that again, then I'm parting out the mods and puttin the car back to stock again.

Just my thoughts right now, but it didn't sound cheap. Metal to metal sounds never do.

                      Ohh my..

                      2 dead pistons
                      4 - 6 dead valves
                      and.. the head is shot..

We don't know what caused the problem. It could be one of the valve seats that just fell off. And then caused havok in the cylinder.. But I'll tell you one thing.. These pistons in these cars, HOLY ****!! They really can take a beating, I mean the way my engine sounded when it broke down, and the "medium" damage done to the pistons, that is just amazing.

The porter of the head is going to take a look at it, if I'm lucky, he can repair the head. And probably claim responsibility. Since I've done nothing to cause this. Other than drive the car very hard , nothing is mechanically wrong, the valve seat just seems to have fell down, might be overheated, but that seems to be the porters fault, not mine, (pointing fingers ), I'll post some pictures later so you can judge for yourself. Hopefully I'll get some help with the porting, since it set me back £ 900 earlier this year once already.

I'm very happy that the bottom end didn't take any damage (of what I've seen so far) Pistons aren't that hard to swap, and not that expensive either. I'm already pulling out the engine and putting the verdi's in the new block that I ordered, ordered a new AAN engine to use as salvage. But hopefully we can rescue the head. I already have valves and new pistons "in stock"

Anyone who wants to sponsor me with some machine job / porting on my head , and see my car run 10's this summer ? is very much

i think you have to buy a wb lambda gauge and an egt gauge.
this kind of power needs a standalone ecu system and can be monitored your engine.
i think, better if you sell the motronic.

I've run with WB02 a few times and my AFR figures are excellent. The pistons looks perfect (those who didn't get valve debris on them that is)

But you're right. Maybe fix an EGT now that the EM is taken off.

I'm using my car all year round, sometimes it can go as low as -35 degrees celcius. And the standalone systems doesn't work as well as motronic does under those conditions, I'm currently talking to a friend of mine who sells vems ecus, they might have something for me, I want a "plug and play" system, I'm not keen on cutting wires and making a new loom. Motronic DOES work, this issue I now have was not caused by motronic. This is just MEGA bad luck.

How is DTA working for you?

Prosty let me know how you get on with Vems, Jeffer uses it on here and Billman investigated it.

It certainly does look the part.
