I can guess which company welded that, could be the same one that welded my IC up they do some quality stuff! It was like American Chopper inside their company.
Guys you have no idea how big that downpipe is, I saw it in the flesh and said you can't be serious?!

You should have heard what Shane the fabricater said when he looked where it had to go! LOLsigpic

i did weld the Xmember( a few years ago) but the fab shop didn't want those welds seen so redid them all!
The recirc valves are gettting dumped to atmosphere just now - i wanted to get them back into the inlet but too tight a fit for the filter on front of the turbo - I will look at relocating the filter to try and get that to work at a later date.
The fabricator was not too happy with his welds on the downpipe! Some people say they are machine welds - he does it all by hand.S2,RS2,S4 WB,RS4,S4 B8,RS6 C5,RS6 C6,R8Comment

not going to wrap it - want to get as much heat out of the DP as possible. The cooler the air gets inside the exhaust after the turbo the freer it will flow. Going to get some heatshields around everything else and cold air to the hot bits.S2,RS2,S4 WB,RS4,S4 B8,RS6 C5,RS6 C6,R8Comment

?
it's the other way round isn't it as cool air has less kinetic energy and will not have the same velocity as hot air within a confined space.Last edited by Jamo; 15 March 2007, 11:09.Comment

Also, reducing ambient heat under the bonnet makes for cooler intake air temps which is another bonus...Only downside is the exhaust wrap looks horrible compared to that lovely downpipeWrapping any type of exhaust piping is a crucial and important step when controlling exhaust temperatures and reducing radiant under-hood heat by up to 50%. Keeping exhaust gases hotter within the exhaust system helps in decreasing density and increasing the flow of exhaust gases. This improves exhaust scavenging which, in turn, reduces intake temperatures for increased horsepower gains.
Ceramic coating is a good option thoughComment

Not 321ss
and it depends totally on the quality of the manifold from what I have read. (welds, material thickness etc)
its a balnace at the end of the day...do the postiives outweigh the negatives?Comment

depends on your EGT's I suppose.
