Just caught up with this thread TD - excellent work. I have refurbed all the running gear on my 20V so can relate (after the third attempt to sortthe calipers, I sent them all off to BiggRed and they came back better than new, Highly recommended). My brake splash guards were also rotten and found a set at Audi Tradition but as you say they weren't cheap. A lift makes a massive difference too; I bought a scissor lift back in 2012 as a big part was safety and putting my wife's worry at ease. Anyway, hope to see the car at an event one day. Good stuff

Don't you have worms with your tea in Portugal

Thanks. Very kind of you to say that. Hopefully it will come out good.

Now, had to have a small break today as my wife was complaining about a grinding noise from her Passat and one of the rear pads was down to the metal. The rest were fine and on further investigation one of the slide pins was seized solid. A quick pop to the factors for a new set of pads and luckily I already had a good slide pin and boot. Electric handbrake on this but rather than faff about with getting vcds running I just used my power probe to input voltage to wind back the mechanism. Job done. Back to more interesting stuff.
Now, I thought it would be a 20 min job to fit the arb. But how the heck do you get this tiny bush into the hole at the end of the bar?

The bush is oe and came in a genuine Audi drop link kit.

    Any tips appreciated.

I have to say that this thread will join Darren Edward’s “restoring satin black” over on Classic Audi as one of the great restoration threads.

Yes, expensive magnacore. When I replaced the dizzy cap noticed there was a lot of rotational play which won t have helped timing and rotor arm had lost it internal metal spring and was very loose.

Those clips look suspiciously wide though.
And the TB microswitches should have flag terminals or you won't get the cover on over them
All are new stainless rolled edge boost pipe clips. Most Norma but two another make that came with the intake pipe. I think they will be fine and better than the zinc jubilee clips that were there before. I have the flag terminals to fit but haven't got around to it. That's probably why my cover is missing

Not taking a big one like this again!

Anyway, back to it. Got all the new boost pipes fitted. Nice new clips.

Which then meant I could fit the Aux rad. My little home made bracket worked.

Then filled with water and G11 anti freeze. Nothing coming out (yet).

Then fitted the new HT leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm.

Next job is to put some petrol in the tank and test the new fuel pipes and injectors.
