So I set up some jump stands with string around the car to set the tracking.
This is just to get me to the garage for the experts to do it on the Hunter.

Fitted the wires into the doors with new boots and had a tidy up and hoover.
The underlay is from woolies. Not cheap. Their premium stuff.
And the cat came to help with fitting.

Yes. It's very dense material and gave me a blister yesterday cutting with the best scissors we have.
But today I had a more serious accident after lifting those horrible sharp tabs that hold the rear carpet down. A few moment later I forgot it was there and caught my finger on it. F###ty ouch!
You really don't want to see the pic before the plaster went on!
But at least we made progress.

The carpet mat clips were lost when the welding was done. Rather than weld something in, I got these from the cabbie I broke last year. A square of thicker material bonded to the carpet acts to strengthen the area up.
Then it could be fitted. No more injuries to declare today.

Holiday over. Back to work.
All the plastics are getting treated before going back in and leather cleaned and fed.
Rear door cards re fitted.
And rear seats
I couldn't find the upper b pillar trims, then I remembered that they are fabric. The old ones were very rough and so far are hiding.
So, fortunately I had some fabric left over from the c pillars and set about making up a pair. Not easy to get it wrinkle free and tucked in to all the right places.
But we got there in the end.
So onto the front console. The heater control wire is baffling me. Thought I had the clip on right but ball end is not secure. Anyone remember how the clip locks the cable end?

Ok. Got a reply on Facebook as to how the clip goes and we are good.
Getting all the wires in the right place was a right mare.
Found this on the light switch connector.
But fortunately I have a spare cluster from a B2 coupe gt and the connectors are the same.
Trying to get the pins out isn’t going to be easy as it’s all melted together. Happy days.

Fixed the plug and assembled the dash.
Was quite pleased with myself but then couldn't find the wire for this plug. Ahh!
So stripped everything, even pulled the carpet but still nothing. Ahh ahh ahh!
After a tea break and a chat with Issimo (who kindly stripped his cowl) I had another look. Little Bug@er was hiding up behind the air duct all the time.
So then I put it all back together.
I'm too frightened to connect the battery yet.

I managed to get a full day in the car today.
The seats came out of storage and got a clean and feed.
The runners got cleaned out and new grease then seats fitted.
It's interesting that Audi used the basic seat fitting arrangement for many years. My A4 B5 is almost identical.
Then the steering wheel.
Next up all the spark plugs were removed and the fuel pump relay pulled. I wanted to build some oil pressure before first start. I pulled the fuse for the digi dash ( just to be safe) and connected the battery and turned the key. Strangely, the wipers and washer immediately started. Maybe something up with the stalk switch.
Anyway, nothing went bang or started smoking so I proceeded to turn the key to start position. Just an electric whirring noise and no turn over. Bu@@er!
So, after double checking my wiring I pulled the starter for a bench test.
Bu@@er and fu@@ity! The solenoid has gone. Sad face.
So, with a low mileage 5 pot engine sitting on my driveway, I set to work.
It looks like it will fit and it works!
Now, any ideas re wipers and washer?

So after soaking the pinion of the starter overnight in wd40 I gave it another test and it worked just fine. So back it went. Turned the engine over to build oil pressure.
Plugs back in and torqued up.
Then I reconnected everything and went for a start.

Now the garage is full of redex smoke.
Onto the wipers!
