Great car for the money. I sold an 80tdi to a guy locally and he's in the throws of fitting a PD, I like the idea of a bit more go and there's a 2.0 PD Golf going a begging at a friends garage but then I think i have other stuff to finish before messing about with engine swaps !......maybe one day?!

You really need a PD out of a B5 platform car, the transverse engines can be made to fit but it' s much more straight forward to get a longditude mounted engine.

I did a fwd to Quattro conversion in the past, donor was a b5 a4 tdi Quattro. In the end I scrapped most of it and used s2 avant stuff as it was easier. Tank doesn't work is the main thing.

We did wonder about the tank and I was quite worried it would be a problem, thanks for the heads up, Jim does have one S2 Avant tank so he can do one conversion but that would be it.

Here's the company that did the mapping, we've used them on a couple of cars, they've always done a good job and arn't expensive.

PD Tuning offer a remapping service and can remap most cars, vans & 4x4's. We cover Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, South Wales etc.

Using an 'App' on my phone apprently that thing does 0-60mph in 4.7 second's, forget first gear and start in second, so only one gear change reqiured that can be done without the clutch at the right rpm.

It's got so much torque I think I could match, or possiably beat that time by setting off in third, I did have a go. however it's not my car so don't want to destroy the clutch as I'd have to slip it a fair bit for good amount of time, so I aborted that attempt....

I wish it had a rev counter as it's hard to drive by ear, It's totally mental in the first four gears, if I ride the torque it breifly reminds me of my dead RS2+ spec S2 which was a torque monster.

I hate the steering wheel, he needs to put a three spoke on it... The current one is hard to hang on to when accelerating hard.

Got a chance to chuck the Ronals on over the weekend in between a mad flourish of Corrado activity. Had a quick chance to check the brakes etc, I need a new set of discs and pad on the front. The rears are fine, though I'm going to have the calipers off to rebuild then as a matter of course.

Ì like the Ronals nice and understated.

The BBS I removed are very light weight and will be shod with Dunlop track tyres, at some point this week.

The rear subframe is solid but has surface rust that needs dealing with sooner rather than later so tha'll be coming off to sort out as well as poly bush everthing and fit the stock S2 ARB I have left over from my car.

Please excuse the bit of a mess I made of the photos and the text being last, however I can now only upload pics as attachments so getting use to that.

Another update I've purchased a 1.8T that needs a full rebuild for a future engine that will almost certainly run an aftermerket ECU...

So I'll probably start a thread on how to build a 1.8T with H beam rods in it and matched manifolds etc.

An S2 engine would be lovely but they are seriously heavy and take up a lot more space, also parts are are expensive and dificult to obtain in some cases.

I'll also make a serious amount of cash from the G60 stuff, more than enough to cover the 1.8T build as well as an ECU

As there's nothing wrong with it I may leave the 3A in place to avoid swapping engines twice, also there's some parts I may need to make my G60 Golf mint prior to sale. The charger is basically a £1000 bank note alone and theres a weath of other stuff that fetches very good money.

So I might have a play with a small turbo on the K--jet sytem after all.

Been doing a fair amount of research regarding tunning 1.8T's which is something of a rabbit hole. I already have a really good transverse version of the engine which no one seems to want to purchase for £200 as well as the one I'm getting off Dave that was the one he swapped out of an A4 as it requires a full rebuild which I'm yet to collect.

I need to double check engine numbers but apparently the transverse engine has a forged crank which fit's straight in the longdtuidal block, also the head off that engine will be in much better condition than the oil starved one from the A4 which destroyed it's cam chain tensioner. I dare say the A4 head is revivable but given that I want the crank out the transverse motor I may as well just give that head a decoke and a very light skin and save myself a lot of time and peace of mind.

A set of respectable H beam rods for the 1.8T is only £250, so for around £500 (not including my time) I can build a 1.8T motor thats good for really serious power, I could sell just the head off my G60 complete with cam for that!

Jim the chap I work with has a nice custom tubular exhaust manfold and what looks to be a genuine Garret GTX 3071 currently bolted to a 1.8T engine in a kit car he want to sell cheap as it's a bit of an unknown quanity which I don't mind gambling on, it looks unused but he's got no way of testing it to be sure.

I've found a 1.8T engine loom in my loft as well a stock 180bhp ECU which would at least get it running once we get rid of the imobilser.

So financially it makes way more sense to sell all the G60 parts and build up a 1.8T that even with the stock 180bhp ECU would be faster and much easier to get parts for.

I'd love to use the G60 but given what I can get for the parts it simply doesn't make sense when I can build up a 1.8T that's good for well over 500bhp and still have at least a grand in change from selling the G60 bits individually over time.

Oh yeah I'm still pottering about in that spastic PD engine swapped B4 Saloon, Jim seems to have forgotten he's lent it to me, transpires it started life as a 90bhp TDI which explains the ridiculous gearing.

Hi Kit, looks like you are making good progress on the cars, a few more picture would not go a miss If you need one I have an obd diagnostic port cable & MPPS software that can flash the ME 7.X ECU's. I used it to put the TT back to stock map, but it's no longer needed as I have no other cars I need to flash the ECU on. Let me know if it's any use and I'll stick it in the post

That's very kind of you Lee and would be much appreciated if it enables me to rid my current 1.8T ECU of it's imboliser or upload alternative maps for know turbo/injector combinations. Even being able to start the car in the mean time would be very useful.

I'm having problems uploading any photo's to the forum at the moment, Tapatalk seems to have altered how pictures are uploaded and I think I've done something thick with the settings on my phone. I will have another fiddle about with it but if I fail to work it out I'll let my brother sort it out for me.

I’ve gone back to using the mobile web versions of the forums, including this one. It’s a shame as is was nice to have everything in one place and the east image uploads. However, the little image upload tag seems to work perfectly well on the web version now, I will upload a pic below.
