What if you were to flip the holder the other way round? The gauges wouldn't hit the bottom then?

I don’t recall having to work the surrounding B2 housing.Maybe the B3 holder is subtly different or the later facelift type 85 interior is different.

Tried that. It works better flipped (as in Ian's pic) but i can't get the bottom in.

So I trimmed the B4 holder a little more.

It still didn't fit and was getting weak. So I went back to the drawing board.
I have some nice thick aluminium sheet.
I have the radio blanking plate which helped cut a rectangle to the perfect size. Unfortunately there appears to have been a small **** up with the hole spacing but I don't think anyone will notice once it's in.

So I've given it a coat of etch primer and will probably top coat in satin black. I wonder if that dark brown paint is available?

Good work Dave. I think Satin Black will do just fine, it’ll match the diff lock panel.

I've been distracted by other jobs and this is taking an age.
Back at it today. Wires for the two senders in the engine bay were passed through a spare hole in the grommet in the bulkhead.

Routed nicely following the oe loom up to the senders and heat resistant sheath added.
Then things didn't go well. The coolant sensor I planned to use fell apart in my hand.

It's left the threads in the head so removal is going to be fun.

I picked up my wheels from the powder coat place. Took a bit longer as they had to order in the correct colour. They have come out really well. Toyo tyres ordered.

Finally got all the wiring sorted and the gauges are working nicely. I have very good oil pressure at tick over. The coolant temp won't work until I replace the sensor.

My plan was to fit the radio in the glove box but it's slightly too long. Anyone suggest a good half length car radio?
So the seat runners were cleaned and new grease added.

New bushes on the seat runners and it's all back together.

Have you not got water temp in the main cluster? You could maybe use the centre console space for a boost gauge.

I already have a boost gauge but early dash hasn't got water temp, just a warning light when it starts to get too hot.
Are entry level Blaupunkt units any good as they are half depth?

I think anything without a CD player will be half depth. I have fitted a Pioneer from Halfords fitted to my Coupe which has DAB radio and also has Bluetooth for streaming and calls. Can’t remember how much I paid for it but it couldn’t have been more than £60 or £70.

I mounted the mic just behind the steering wheel so no holes drilled for it.

                              Thanks for the info.

Onto the snapped off sensor. I've been spraying it with penetration oil for the past few days. I had to remove the pas pump bracket to give access.

Then I could get the extractor in.

I took it very easy as I know how easy it is to split aluminium heads. Ask me how I know. Doh!
But I managed to extract it.

New sensor arrived today and duly fitted.

Just need to put it all back together now.
