£150 for the Pierburg isn't too bad, certainly better than £550+ which is absurd.

I recently started my RS2 for the first time in two years after I realised it hadn't been fired up for so long, stuck a few gallons of V-Power in the tank and it started straight away, ran perfectly, then died after 30 seconds.

I had a suspicion the pump had sucked up some water as it had been left just about empty with generic 97 Ron fuel so checked the fuse which had blown, fitted a new 15 amp fuse and it fired up again, was a bit grumpy sounding for about 30 seconds then cleared and ran perfectly, fuel pump is silent. Let it run for half an hour and gave it some revs right to the red line a few times and it's happy again now and starts straight away. The oil is spotlessly clean Fuchs Titan 10W50 so that wasn't a concern.

Though I've just purchased some of this stuff..... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/375466045615 After spending hours working out what's best of these products to treat the fuel in all my cars that are currently stood as I can't drive due the pain meds I'm on. Well I can legally, I have a full clean licence, but don't currently need to and would hate to have an accident because some pills. Cost's me £250 a year to keep the RS2 insured and saves my no claims from lapsing.

After badgering the NHS for three years I'm finally having surgery on my elbow later this year so I can drive properly again.

I ordered the Pierburg this morning. Coming from Germany so might take a week or so. Good luck with your arm Kit. Hopefully they will sort it out for you.

Whilst waiting for the pump, there is plenty to do.
The wheels got a clean. I'm not keen on black. They will be going back to silver when I get around to it.

I picked up 16 good used Porsche wheel nuts on eBay for £10! Bargain. Now I can replace any ropey ones I have.

        Wheels went on the car.

And I cracked on doing all the torque up that requires the car to be on the ground.

Big boys toys required for the hub bolt. 200nm plus 90 degrees.

        And these.

No pics of me crawling under the car to do the wishbones.

Now both rear wheels are pointing in visibility and the eccentric bolts are as far as they will go. Something isn't right. I need to check a few things. I'm wondering if the aftermarket rear tie rods are the correct length. Head scratching.

Cheers Dave, you'll have it ready to start and drive by the time the pump arrives.

it's not been right since I broke it, it'll get sorted but it needs to be re-broken and a load of bone ground off to sort it out properly.

But hey, I've got my workshop an Audi 80 to play with and two really nice cars put away. Life could be worse.

And I've started building turbos again now I can get them balanced easily so I have plenty to get on with, one handed.

              It's dead.
Dated 94, its the original pump. It's done well.
Now I do have a nice new Bosch pump. Just happened to be knocking about.

But I don't really want to chop up the basket to get it in.
I see Audi Tradition have the original pump for (sit down) 545 Euro.
However, the same Pierburg pump without the Audi part number is still available for about £150.

You can use fuel pump basket from Audi 80 2.3 and Bosch 040 will fit p&p

Yes! Just measured them and they are different. Old ones are still good and will clean up nicely.

That's good to know, I happen to have an 040 in my parts stash, just need the basket if I want to use it.

I quite like the black wheels on a silver car, though as you say they really should be the proper RS2 silver which is a Porsche wheel colour, not Audi.

I see you've gone for some really nice tyre's, in 225/45 by the looks of it.as opposed to 245/40's...

I just checked RS2 wheel spec's to double check the stock size and found they're actually 7.2 inches wide which I didn't know.

Charlie had one with 245/40 Michelin's on it, that LHD car and it actually drove fine once I upped the pressures to 35psi, though I think a 225/45 is a better option.

The rear tie rods were cleaned back to metal, two coats of zinc and two coats of satin black. Came out nice.

You can see the size difference between the A4 ones! I should have checked before I fitted.

I had two new rubbers that are a good fit.

Plenty of copper grease in these. Apparently they seize in the bush.

And the 19mm awkward access spanner is a must for fitting.

Now. Where was I? Get me to the garage wheel alignment next.

The rear bumper got a wash.

Some of the screws on the inside had some surface rust. They were cleaned and treated. Then the bumper went on nicely. I'm after a rear off side arch liner if anyone has a good one for sale. Mine has some damage.

The battery tray has been cleaned down as it had some rust in the corner and re painted in zinc then satin black.
