Pistons are OEM Karl Schmidt.
Just got the head back from the machine shop. It's had 3 thou skimmed off and two new valve guides on the exhaust side. These were damaged by the welding in the port.91 Modded 3B

The exhaust valves have a small hollow in the centre of the valve head. The inlet valves are totally flat. Are yours different?91 Modded 3B

Yes - I have a hollow in both - What does this mean then - I have different spec valves? Why do they have the hollows anyway? I have a suspicion that my head has dropped a valve at some point(due to chamber damage) - so all of mine might have been replaced - hopefully with the correct ones!Originally posted by SteveH

Doug, Those certainly don't look like mine or the ones in Mark's head. Perhaps Audi changed from one type to another during the production run on the 3B>AAN/ABY/ADU?91 Modded 3B

Marks is an ABY (don't know what his new head is - Mark? ADU?) - Mine is a late ABY - I wonder if it's another one of those things where they have the same part number but they have been superceeded
