Cheers Jamo...old one and you want it back...mind you are they really ish £40? Vagcat price.

          V6 tensioner was no good...

so thanks to GSF Cheltenham, we found one that suits the 25mm belt...also from GSF.

Just need a steel mount machined up, so the tensioner sits at the right height.

A little more progress on the technical issues...

Mount machinined for the GSf tensioner, had to be fitted minus the plastic 'wheel'...hope the serrations dont mark the belt. Fits quite nicely and has just enough adjustment.

                  The plan is...

Secure the wheel to the cam with a grub screw or very short cap head bolt and where the hole is i will cut a notch...bout 10mm wide.

When spinning this device below will detect the notch and duplicate the hall sender signal as done like on aby's.

That is a cracking idea! Carlos

Heres a 600+hp cosworth motor using a similar method ... i believe this car is running Pectel T6.

Carlos, i'm probaly being dumb, but why did you go to all the trouble of trying to mount the ABY tensioner, and use the GSF sourced one?
whats wrong with the 7A / 3B method on this build?

                          .

Was hoping to use the aby tensioner for simplicity and knowing the parts were available and could be fitted the to 'this' engine.

Problem came when i drilled through my spare block to find there was not enough metal in the correct areas to securely mount the alloy bracket.

So 7a block with aby tensioner does not work.

That's when i spotted to hole in the corner of the block just in the right position for a 'static' tensioner...et voila.

Remember i'm also now running a 25mm belt so all wheels need to be +25mm in width.

And also i wanted to stop using the pump as the tensioner cos once disturbed they very often leak.

HTH...and cos i can...or just like making thigs difficult for myself.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but i'm trying to fit a cooler housing to a 7A block. That massive threaded bit in the middle, does that just screw out? How did you get it out? Then I need to find two stubs and push them in after the housing is in place?

It looks obvious from your post but I just wanted to double check,

                            Cheers!

                              .

Yep, the short threaded section the oil filter screws onto just spins out, normal threads...i used a pair of pipe grips.

The 2 'pins' in mine are spirol pins...still have a bag full... need 2?

They stop the new housing rotating when you tighten the securing bolt.

I can stick a piccy up tonite of all the bits?

Sorting my cooler out as well, for this build and my 7A.

That would be dead useful mate, I'm just trying to source all the bits still. Is it possible the large threaded bit comes out the housing aswell, that would be far easier, then I could just keep the one in the block. On your 7A, are you planning to just block off the seperate oil feed on the housing which i'm guessing is for the turbo?
