    • Got a few more little jobs done:

      Treated the modified (R)S4 linkage to a new rebuild kit: if only these were available for the S2/RS2 linkage




      All built up ready to go:




      Built up the refreshed tie rods; new Lemförder TREs and re-plated adjusters. Also added some heat shielding to the RH one as it's quite close to the downpipe:




      Refreshed cruise control assembly:




      Built up the brake system with all new lines:









      Engine bay is starting to fill up now - getting there slowly




      Oh and I ran a weld round the downpipe flange to keep Kieron happy



      working 6 days a week at the minute so time is in short supply. Hoping to get the dash back in over the next few days. Then drop the engine off the stand and start getting ready to fit the damn thing.....

            • The lot of brake pipes across the firewall threw me for a sec, until I realised your abs unit is slightly different . What are your plans for Vacuum, (electric pump or 1way valve).

              What did you use for the heatshielding on the chassis arm, and the tie rods?

              • Yeah I did think about converting to the later ABS system but decided to stick with the earlier as I couldn't find a donor to cut the mounting brackets out of at the time. In fairness its actually the best ABS system in any car I've driven you don't know its there until you need it and I find its not at all intrusive even on track.

                As I have deleted the carbon canister circuit I don't have the EVAP solenoid anymore so I am going to take the vacuum supply for the servo from the little pipe on the underside of the inlet manifold that used to be conected to the EVAP system - just need to make an adapter for it. I have 2 check valves which will run in series between there and the servo for added security.

                The heat shield is from Thermal Velocity

                      Just wire brushed it to take off the heat discoloration. I thought I'd start with a nice easy one, the others won't be that pretty

                          I quite enjoy doing hardlines actually, I just wish I had a hydraulic tube bender so I could do them in stainless
