A little overkill for 300hp
20v Turbo engine into Type 85 CQ

Ian,
As I recall, one of the biggest problems encountered was due to the IM. For a much better flowing IM the AAN was the best option, but this interfered with the radiator. Hence I had to have two custom ones made. It may be more prudent to have a custon IM not to foul the original rad as a smaller custom one is not up to cooling. Or alternatively find a better place for the rad.
FIngers crossed I should have my car back very soon and you are welcome to come and have a look and work out your best options.
Cheers

I was looking at gringos mint 80 earlier on his site,he managed to squeeze in the rad and the intercooler infront of the engine! I am wondering has the engine been moved back because on mine there is hardly any room at the front.Attached FilesComment

That looks like a lovely clean install - very nice indeed.
It could well be that just the one rad in front would be enough - not sure. In my case, especially living in London, decided to go for the two. It is mighty tight though.Attached FilesAudi 90 quattro (Typ 85)

That's got to be tight...
Many thanks Chris
Engine wise, i'll take what comes, when the time comes, but the AAN, cost wise including loom etc (eg a servicable car) are better than a 3B or ABY and, to be fair, I'd have ethical issues with anything involving a square car. So, cost wise the AAN looks (in late 2007) the best bet...
The fitment of the rads etc are a potential issue, but the overall effect against the phyical attachment to the 20vt to the drivetrain and it's potential failure I perceive are bigger.85 WR Urquattro, 85 20vT International liveried RallyRep

That looks like one of those thin S4 type rads. A Sport Q grill would help with space ..Comment

Isn't that an RS2 IM upside down

I really doubt you are going gonna have problems with it myself unless it is already showing problems.Im not sure of the similaritys between the driveshafts etc on a type 44 but i had one with a 3B/RR(270bhp) in which i caned the **** off for 3 years and never gave ANY trouble from the drivetrain and that had done 180k,well over 100k with the 20v in.I suspect they are nearly identicle.Comment

we managed to squeeze a decent size intercooler( bigger than rs2 )in front of sal's car where the auxilary rad normally goesComment

My one is bigger now too!
Just that it is all so tight, but it can be done
