Tom, et al... Would any of you kindly address my question about whether Audi Tradition is once again actually able to produce certain new parts again if there is enough demand?

I am very curious about this issue.

It sounds like, if I am reading this correctly, that the RS2 motor mounts were previously NLA, but that they are producing them again through Audi Tradition now. ??
This is realy a topic of immense interest to me.

Tom, et al... Does anyone have a point of contact at Audi Tradition they would be willing to share (email address, for instance)?

Tom, I'd love to check out your RS2 next time I'm in Georgia. I'm up in Minnesota now, so I don't get down that way often anymore, but I still have family there.

hi, you could contact Sebastian on sebastian.funk@audi.de , or Timo on timo.schiemer@audi.de.

They are contacting the original suppliers, when they have the original moulds; If not, or when the supplier asks a large sum of money as starting-cost, the parts may be made available, but would cost a small fortune. Then Audi Tradition is not starting that re-production. I know this applies to a number of products, among which the "Einstiegsleisten", the sill covers on top of the side-skirts.

It's a numbers game, as always..

Those are the best two for help with parts.

On a similar note, I got word back today that Audi Tradition parts are NOT available via the US dealer network. No worries, I'll keep on buying them from everywhere else. .

They also claimed the part on the AT site I was interested in was used and not new. So pretty confused now.

I call this morning my parts "pusher" at the dealer to have confirmation about discounts and shipping costs.

He confirmed that on Tradion parts bought trough the dealers net there's still discount not as high as normal parts but still there's some.
Also confirmed there's no shipping expenses.
At least this is what I have from my man here in Italy it might varies between countries and/or dealers as well....
I do spoiled my man with Amarone and other delicatessen though.....

Okay, email has been sent to Sebastian @ Audi Tradition. Fingers crossed.... Really hoping he is able to help me with this project. Wishful thinking, I know, but worth a shot. Thanks again for the contact information.

I am really jealous of you guys who have an RS2. If these had been sold here in the US, I would be driving one right now as it's the perfect chassis IMHO. I hope to import one someday, but these will be spendy and hard to find.

I personally know Tom and have been following his thread for several years now and his attention to detail is something that is nothing short of inspirational. I am always excited to see any updates, even if it is just a piece of trim added, as it's one step closer to the final result!

              Milestone

This past Friday my mate John and I decide to pull the trigger on the engine install. Last week I picked up my engine install table from the local welding shop. I had them weld on some steel plates that would facilitate bolting up some casters. Earlier in the week after putting the wee ones to bed I snuck out to the garage and got the engine/gearbox assy on the table. So it was hard to resist going ahead and getting the job done thos weekend, especially with help around.

              So......

A few pictures of the engine/gearbox on the table.

My mate John guarding the assembly.

Almost time!!!! Pulling the subframe in preparation.

              DONE!!!!!

Congtats Tom! I feel like I just witnessed the birth of your child. Quite the milestone. Now we await first words... Then steps...

You made it look easy, but that must have felt damn good. It looks like its just rolled off the production line and into your garage...

I look forward to some shots of the car without 6" of space under the front arches and seeing the engine bay come together. So you gonna go with Samco coolant hoses?

Hey! What a realy nice job!! I'm jealous, we are quiet at the same steps, but when you have started the motor, you're winning 😊!

I think that the first start is the most important thing for the motivation!!!!

here a public link on facebook when you can see the first start of the motor on the new body with just the minimal cable and fuse that we need to start.

And here another first start, when all the cable and fuse are plugged-in !!

Take the time, and post a video of your first start, that would be great !

Good good and awesome job, like allways !
