Wow, this looks truly great, up there with the 3.6 V8 ( finished in Zermatt silver) that was on Audiworld a couple of years ago.
What is that lower spoiler on the front?

Acidburn, I agree with you, rare cars now....... they rust ! I have an 80 Sport and know that they need looking after but would love one as well. Must be cheaper than an S2, although not looking at what Tom has done.

Tom , truly great and well done !
    Thanks (better late than newer...)
The front spoiler comes from a company witch vent out of business many years ago, 2bennett have one that in many ways looks similar http://2bennett.com/body_4000_.html

When I had the origianal transmission I used a 4 puck sinter. When i changed to the 01E transmission I had to get an adapter on the main shaft to make it longer so it reached in to the ballbearing in the engine (not the flywheel as on the cars with original 01E transmission) Then i bought a 4 puck sinter to the 01E transmission.

Can you make a comment on how these Bennet top mounts compare to the green and blue coloured standard ones used S2 Avants?

Obvious, but nearly forgot to say it, very nice car, love the shape of the bodyshell.

                    Thanks in advance.

So interesting, so informative - thanks and keep the pictures coming. Its nice to see someone go to the lengths most of us would challenging. Love the reverse quattro emblem on the grill - nice touch!

Quick question, are you going to run the original mechanical speedometer?
If so, do you know how to get the 01E moded?

                          Thanks!

AFAIK the mechanical speedo part from the original 016 gearbox can be mounted in the 01E gearbox

not quite,i put the early 016 mechanical drive into a 016 torsen box that had an electronic drive originally.10 minute job on those but into an 01E needs machining, tapping the thread i should think from when i looked into it.
